Housing Element Updates
The Town Council adopted the 2023-31 Housing Element on December 13, 2023. The Housing Element Update is Fairfax's housing plan for the next 8 years (2023-2031). The Housing Element was submitted as required to the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) for certification.
Based on HCD review a few minor administrative amendments to the Housing Element document were made to clarify policies and programs. The revised documents have been posted for a seven-day public review period (March 5 to March 12). Review the documents online and comment by March 12, 2024.
Congressman Huffman Tours Bolinas Road
Local and county officials, including U.S. Rep. Jared Huffman, toured Bolinas Road, which suffered damage from winter storms and requires an estimated $30.29 million in repairs for a 6.5-mile stretch. The Town is collaborating with the County for a Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant application, highlighting the road's importance for critical infrastructure and recreational access to destinations like the Marin Municipal Water District Watershed, Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Mount Tamalpais State Park.

Electric Landscape Equipment Rebates
Starting from January 1, 2024, it is mandatory for residents, Town staff, contractors, and commercial landscapers to use electric (battery-operated or corded) or manual landscape equipment.
Good news! We continue to offer rebates for both residents and landscapers who purchase eligible electric landscape equipment from Fairfax Lumber & Hardware. Additionally, you can receive a rebate discount at the point of sale when you trade in your gas- or diesel-powered tools. Make the switch to electric and save!

What is Defensible Space? Defensible space is the area around a home that has been designed to protect it from ignition and gives firefighters the space needed to defend your home. 90% of homes that burn during a wildfire are ignited by embers that start spot fires that then spread to the house. Don’t be Fooled by Scammers
Reports of utility scams targeting PG&E customers were at an all-time high during 2023. If you receive a suspected phone call or email, report it to PG&E.
Signs of a potential scam
Threat to disconnect: Scammers may aggressively demand immediate payment for an alleged past due bill.
Request for immediate payment: Scammers may instruct the customer to purchase a prepaid card then call them back supposedly to make a bill payment.
Request for prepaid card: When the customer calls back, the caller asks the customer for the prepaid card’s number, which grants the scammer instant access to the card’s funds.
Refund or rebate offers: Scammers may say that your utility company overbilled you and owes you a refund, or that you are entitled to a rebate.
