MOST receives grant from California Coastal Conservancy for Wall Property

Last week, on June 6, 2024, the State Coastal Conservancy approved a grant award of $500,000 to the Marin Open Space Trust (MOST) for the acquisition of the 100-acre Wall Property! What’s next? MOST is working on a grant application to the Marin County Board of Supervisors for a $1 million Measure A grant.

45th Annual Fairfax Festival and Ecofest

The Fairfax Festival saw one of the largest turnouts in history. Attendees enjoyed live music, arts, culture, and great company. Here are some great moments captured by Fairfax Artist in Residence, Stephanie Mohan. 

Mayor Coler throws out first pitch at Pacifics game

Mayor Coler threw a curve ball first pitch at the San Rafael Pacifics’ game at Albert Park on Saturday evening in celebration of Small Business Night. The night was a win for the Pacifics who grabbed a 12-3 victory against the Martinez Sturgeons.

2024 Annual General Adjustment Announcement

The maximum annual rent increase is called the Annual General Adjustment (AGA). Annually, the Town of Fairfax adjusts the maximum rent increase percentage. Starting September 1, the maximum percentage for increasing rent to applicable residences (see this applicability chart) will change to 2.85% from 2.52%.

Town launches short term rental registration platform

Starting April 15, 2024, all short-term rentals (STRs) that qualify in the Town of Fairfax must be registered with the Town. This requires an annual registration fee, and the collection and remittance of Hotel User’s Tax (HUT).


Some places do not qualify for use as short-term rentals and must be discontinued. Visit our Short-Term Rental Program page for more information. 


On May 1, 2024, letters were sent to STR operators in town to notify them of this requirement.

FIRE SAFETY

Defensible Space Evaluations are coming to your neighborhood!

Between now and the end of June, as conditions permit, neighbors within the Bothin, Glen and Baywood Canyon, and Fairfax Bolinas Road neighborhoods will be receiving Wildfire Defensible Space and Home Hardening Evaluations from our uniformed Fire Inspectors. 


Online reports are only available to property owners, renters, and authorized representatives.

The Warner Creek Senior Housing Project-Based Voucher (PBV) waiting list opens on June 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM and closes on June 17, 2024, at 11:59 PM. This opportunity is for seniors aged 62 or older seeking affordable housing. The project is located at 4020 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael, CA 94903.

Ross Valley Senior Luncheon


The Ross Valley Senior Luncheon will be held on Thursday July 11 from 11am – 2pm because July 4 is a holiday.
