There is traffic control along Tamalpais Rd between Mountain View Rd and Shapiro Ln through the end of this week. Through traffic is restricted to residents, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Emergency work will begin as early as 6 am Thursday, May 30 to remove a disabled vehicle, and road repair to a retaining wall will commence thereafter.
County Public Works will also be working on upper Bolinas Rd. Bolinas Road between Fawn Ridge Road and Sky Oaks Road will be reduced to one lane with traffic control in place. Delays of up to 5 minutes are expected. Work includes the removal of temporary barriers and the installation of permanent guardrails and cable railing. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times. The work will take place between 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM.
Council executes MOU for Wall Property
On May 22, 2024, Town Council approved entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Marin Open Space Trust (MOST) to achieve a common conservation goal—the permanent protection of a 100-acre unimproved property in the Town of Fairfax, commonly known as the Wall Property. The Council Subcommittee and MOST continue to work with the Marin County Open Space and Parks District (MCOSD) on property management matters.
The purpose of the MOU is to memorialize the intent of MOST and the Town of Fairfax to transfer title of the Wall Property to the Town. In return, MOST commits to raise the funds ($2,300,000) for the purchase of the Wall Property (and for $500,000 in restoration costs) and to convey the escrow account with all funds and the Wall Property to the Town (on or before October 29, 2024). In turn, the Town will accept title to the Property subject to the Town’s satisfaction with its due diligence investigations.
The Parties envision that the Property will be protected in perpetuity as public open space accessible to all, and integrated into the surrounding protected properties. It is intended that the Town will manage the Property as an open space preserve consistent with the acquisition purposes outlined above.
Donate to the acquisition of the Wall Property
So far, the Town’s Open Space Committee has held two highly successful Wall fundraising events. Additionally, several Town businesses held an evening event with a portion of proceeds going to the acquisition of the Wall Property. All proceeds are sent directly to MOST.

FROM OUR PARTNERS
Protecting yourself and your pets from ticks and tick-borne illnesses
As summer approaches, outdoor activities increase, bringing a higher risk of encountering ticks and tick-borne diseases. Ticks are prevalent in Marin and Sonoma counties, especially in grassy, brushy, and wooded areas. Follow these simple tips to stay safe:
Wear light-colored clothing, long sleeves, and long socks.
Use repellents containing DEET, picaridin, IR3535, or oil of lemon eucalyptus.
Avoid tall grass and brush, and stick to the center of trails.
Check your body and pets for ticks after outdoor activities.
Consult your vet for tick prevention products for pets.
The Ross Valley Senior Luncheon will be held on Thursday July 11 from 11am – 2pm because July 4 is a holiday.
