Scenic Road and Porteous Avenue Road improvements

The Scenic Repaving Project is underway with concrete work to improve curb ramps, and curb and gutter. Once the concrete work is completed by the end of the month, removal of existing asphalt and repaving of the roadway will begin. During the day access will be limited or closed; roads will be reopened at the end of the workday for residents to use. Please drive slowly and cautiously, the road will be rough during construction. Detours will be in place for bicycle and vehicular use. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of September.

We recommend travelers detour from Sequoia to Tamalpais and then to Manor as the existing access to Scenic from Sequoia (the current route) will be impacted by the construction.

Porteous Avenue

Concrete work will begin before the end of August on Porteous Avenue. Travelers should follow detour signs during construction. Once the concrete work is completed, repaving of the roadway will begin in September.

145 Canyon Road retaining wall improvements begin

A retaining wall near 145 Canyon Road is in dire need of rebuilding. The wall supports the roadway and is the sole access for over 20 homes at the end of Canyon Road. RWR Construction was awarded the contract to complete the rebuild. Work will begin in the next 2-3 weeks. The contractor will make all efforts to complete the work without closing the road, but at times, there will be delays and impacts. On occasion, extended periods of closure may occur.

We’ll be working with RWR to send out information about the work and to provide details about traffic delays and scheduled closures.

For more information about the project, reach out to our Public Works Director, Loren Umbertis.

Center Boulevard slurry seal is complete!

We recently worked with San Anselmo to complete a slurry seal and new pavement markings along a portion of Center Boulevard. The slurry seal will extend the life of the pavement and the refreshed markings will enhance safety for drivers and other travelers.

Fairfax and San Anselmo will continue to find additional opportunities to share costs for future projects that benefit both communities.
