Economic Development
Community Food & Liquor, 5530 N. Milwaukee Ave., is planning to renovate and become an upscale liquor store, featuring a wide selection of craft beers. The Chamber and Gladstone Park Neighborhood Association recently met with the owner, and the project appears to be an overall improvement for the community. A special use permit from the Zoning Board of Appeals is required, along with a new liquor license. The renovations are expected to take up to two years.
A permit to demolish the former Archdiocese food processing plant at 5150 N. Northwest Hwy has been issued. Plans call for a five-story storage facility and an unspecified multi-family residential development. A lawsuit to stop the development is still pending.
