Cap-to-Cap Washington, DC Lobbying Trip

In April I attended Cap-to-Cap and was able to promote our unique Yolo County priorities by attending meetings on transportation and water issues, to name a few. In addition to scheduled meetings, Cap-to-Cap also provided a great opportunity to network with others and discuss potential solutions to issues that directly affect Yolo County.

Yolo Healthy Aging Alliance Town Hall

in West Sacramento on April 11th

The Yolo Healthy Aging Alliance held a Town Hall Meeting on April 11^th at the West Sacramento Senior Center, and I was pleased to attend. Will Tift, the Assistant Director of Agency on Aging Area 4, presented a working draft of the 2024-2028 strategic area plan for Yolo County under the CA Master Plan for Aging. The master plan provides a conceptual layout intended to help support our aging population. My office has copies of the Yolo Healthy Aging Alliance Resource Guide in both English and Spanish. United Way Gala 2024

Yolo County sponsored a table at the United Way Gala on the evening of April 20^th. The United Way is “committed to playing a significant role in the reduction of poverty, education inequity and any disparity that may prevent individuals and families from reaching their highest educational or economic potential.” Only together can we affect change that is necessary to lift those less fortunate. The Gala highlighted the efforts of United Way to support the academic needs of college students through the United Way California Capital Region’s Collegiate Guaranteed Income Program.

CSAC Legislative Conference

The California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Legislative Conference took place April 17^th-19^th in Sacramento. Once again this was an opportunity for me to participate in vital discussions with other representatives. Together we become stronger and more able to achieve goals and objectives for our county community.

Northern California Construction Training Visit

West Sacramento is home to Northern California Construction Training. NCCT is a free pre-apprenticeship program focused on the building trades that helps prepare individuals for entry into job market. This is a gem right in our own backyard that serves as a pathway for job training but also as a great resource for community projects in our region.
