Relias Learning Trainings Due December 31st

The Relias Learning system shows the incorrect date for trainings to be complete. All yearly trainings are due by December 31st, 2022. If you are having difficulty accessing the new Relias system, please contact Monica Simpson.
Retirement Congratulations
Labette Center congratulates Beth Engels, LMSW and Jeanne McCallum, LCPC on their upcoming retirements. Jeanne will retire on December 30th and Beth will retire on December 31st.

Jeanne McCallum joined the staff at LCMHS in 2001 as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She graduated from PSU in May 2001 with her MS in psychology in community counseling. She earned a Bachelor's in Art Education in 1976 at DePauw University, Greencastle Indiana. Jeanne was commissioned as a US Navy Supply Corps officer in 1980 serving until 1983. She then went on to earn a M. Div. in Family Ministry from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1990. In 2005, Jeanne earned her Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor license. She is a member of NBCC (National Board for Certified Counselors.)

Beth Engels joined the LCMHS staff in 1994 as an Attendant Care Supervisor. From 1995-2003, she worked with LCMHS in Program Evaluation for 3 federal grants. In 2002, she also worked as a Children's Case Manager, and in 2003, she began working as the Navigators Psychosocial Coordinator, a position she held until being named Community Based Services Coordinator in 2008. With a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Pittsburg State University and a Masters in Social Work from Washburn University, Engels became a Licensed Bachelors Social Worker in 2002 and a Licensed Masters Social Worker in 2003.

The Center will honor both Jeanne and Beth at the Holiday lunch being held on Thursday December 22nd.
The holiday lunch is back!

We are excited to bring back the annual holiday employee lunch! 

The holiday lunch/retirement celebration will be held on Thursday December 22nd from 12:00pm - 1:30pm. This year the lunch will be catered in (no need for pot luck!) We will have cake to celebrate with Beth and Jeanne. Make sure you bring your white elephant gift! All who bring a gift will get to participate in a fun gift exchange game. Come join in the fun and enjoy some good food and laughs with your coworkers!

We will also once again have a door decorating contest and an Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest! Decorate your door, or if you don't have a door feel free to use a door throughout the building (storage room, break room, doors at other buildings, etc.) and get into the holiday spirit! Wear you ugly Christmas Sweater on December 22nd for everyone to see! Submission for the Door decorations should be sent to Monica Simpson on or before December 16th. Door entries will be put on Facebook to let our followers vote for the best decorations! "Ugly" sweaters can be worn on December 22nd to the Holiday dinner and votes can be cast by employees!

New Employees!
Labette Center would like to welcome Jill McClintick! Jill began working at Labette Center on November 14th as an attendant care staff member in the adult case management department. Jill is originally from Walnut, KS where she grew up on a farm. Jill has worked in healthcare in various capacities for about 30 years and is excited to join the Labette Center team! She enjoys camping, boating, cooking, listening to music and playing darts as well as spending time with her children, grand kids, boyfriend and family. Welcome to Labette Center Jill!
Labette Center would like to welcome Abby Churning to our staff! Abby began working at Labette Center on November 7th as a Care Coordinator in the children’s department. A Labette County native, Abby holds a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from Pittsburg State University and worked for the Department of Children and Families before joining the Labette Center staff. Abby spends free time with family, reading, painting and enjoying her pets. Welcome to Labette Center Abby!
Welcome Back Jennifer Schibi!

Welcome back to Jennifer Schibi, LSCSW! Jennifer will rejoin the staff at Labette Center on December 1st, 2022. Jennifer previously worked for Labette Center from May 2013 through early 2022, starting as a children’s case manager and then transitioning into positions as an adult case manager, care coordinator in the Health Homes program. From 2017 until current Jennifer has been working as an outpatient and crisis therapist and has continued that work since. Jennifer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development, Minor in public health from Pittsburg State University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Kansas. Jennifer became a licensed LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker) in 2017 and a LSCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) in 2022. Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband and two children as well as their extended families.

Relias - A great resource for training!

Labette Center is proud to be able to offer Relias Learning System to our employees as an added benefit. If you are in need of trainings to obtain continuing education units, or would just like to learn more on a variety of subjects, don’t forget to check out Relias to see all the courses that are offered! If anyone has any difficulty logging into the Relias system, if you have forgotten your user name and/or password, or have difficult utilizing the system, please contact Monica Simpson.  There are a lot of great courses that can fit the needs of any employee!

KPERS 457 Video

Enrollment for the KPERS 457 retirement plan is always open! KPERS 457 is the State of Kansas deferred compensation plan. It’s a voluntary savings plan for KPERS members. In the employee login section of the Center’s website, under “Important Links & Training Videos”, staff can find a video about the plan to gain more information. The KPERS 457 sign up form and flyer can be found under “Other Employee Information & Forms”. For more information contact Natasha Purcell, Human Resource Coordinator.

PRC Gym Membership a Benefit to all employees!

As part of the Center’s commitment to health and wellness for employees the Center offers membership access to the Parsons Recreation Commission facilities located at 200 Heacock Ave, Parsons KS. The facility is open to members from 5am - 8pm Monday - Friday and 1pm-5pm on Saturday and Sunday. As stated on the PRC website, “A membership give you unlimited access to our facility during our business hours. At the Arvon Philips Community Center we offer a fitness/weight room, racquetball court, men’s and women’s saunas,full gym, meeting room with full kitchen, Xbox ONE, and Wi-Fi access.” In order to access the Center’s membership, employees must show their employee badge to the staff at PRC.
