A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
If you have not heard, the Board has approved a Memorandum of Understanding with NALS for a joint conference next year in Reno. A big thank you to Central Office, NALS, and the Conference Committee for all their hard work in putting this together. The interaction with our colleagues to the east and the great venue at the Silver Legacy promises for a great conference. We will be sending out the details very soon so please watch for that information.

John Tosto and his committee are still progressing along in an effort to occupy Benchmarks for the Geoid 2018 model. We only have a few weeks left so if you have not committed to occupy one of these benchmarks please do so by clicking here . Email [email protected] with any questions.

This week I was invited to attend the NCEES annual meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona. It is a privilege and I am looking forward to hearing reports as well as participating in discussions that set the agenda in the coming years. I also plan to take part in the many workshops and forums that concern our profession.

On July 15th I participated with Armand Marois, Annette Lockhart, Marta Alvarez, Colin O’Brien, and Rob McMillan at the American School Counselors Conference in Los Angeles representing NSPS at a booth. Idaho State University professor Darren Leavitt provided an interactive “Sandbox” that was a huge hit. With over 3,800 participates, it kept all of us busy explaining the great opportunities for a career in Land Surveying.

We have another opportunity to reach out through the California Association of School Counselors Conference in Riverside from October 17 through the 19th. The CLSA Board of Directors has approved a budget to be an Exhibitor at this event. Plans are in the works to obtain another “Sandbox.”

Finally, we just completed our July Board meeting and there are number of items that were discussed. Besides the MOU with NALS; the Board accepted a bylaw amendment to be sent on to the membership for consideration. In addition there were a number of other actions that took place; so be sure to have a full discussion with the Directors from your Chapter.

CLSA President
