Summer Newsletter 2022

As the summer heat continues on, we are excited to continue learning and growing! Our second summer, of opening preschool classrooms was a success. Children spent time exploring the outdoors and learning through fun.

Teacher Tom

Tom “Teacher Tom” Hobson is an early childhood educator, international speaker, education consultant, teacher of teachers, parent educator, and author. He is best known, however, for his namesake blog Teacher Tom's Blog, where he has posted daily for over a decade, chronicling the life and times of his little preschool in the rain-soaked Pacific Northwest corner of the USA.

Teacher TOM

The Wild Plum Staff was fortunate to have a one day session with Tom. His emotional generosity, humor and insight, which come together in “Aha!” moments both re-affirm and challenge some of our most deeply held beliefs about children and how they learn.

LENA

Our infant/toddler program is currently participating and partnering with LENA Grow. It has been such an amazing opportunity and we have all gained so much knowledge! We have also been able to give our insights and guidance on improvements we think could be made to the program to better serve children, families, and teachers.

Because of this experience and our teacher's expertise, one of our infant/toddler teachers, Brittany Ferguson, was  interviewed by Education Week! The article discusses language skills and how the pandemic has impacted children's development. Click on the article below:

Build a future.

Teachers and students need your support more than ever. Get crayons, books, cleaning supplies, technology, and more to help students get back to learning.

Donors Choose connects classrooms to Donors.

They make it easy for anyone to help a teacher in need, moving us closer to a nation where students in every community have the tools and experiences they need for a great education.

Brittany's class posted an ask for a dramatic play kitchen and it was funded by several local and national donors. Thank you to all those who contributed!
