COVID Information

We ask you to follow these few simple rules so everyone can safely engage in sports this spring.

  1. If you or your child is not feeling well, please do not come to practices or games. This is the single most important thing you can remember.
  2. Please also respect the Coaches and other volunteers by wearing your mask over the mouth and nose at any time that you are within 10’ of someone else.
  3. Please maintain social distancing in the parking lots, on the sidelines, and to and from practices/games.
  4. Please ensure that each player/coach/official has their own equipment, their own water and their own sanitizer and to use that sanitizer frequently.

Board of Directors Update

Meet SYA Commissioner Dave Scanlon

Dave has been an SYA volunteer for over 30 years, as a coach and commissioner. He is currently the commissioner for winter and summer basketball. His three sons all played sports in SYA including baseball, basketball, football, and soccer. Each one of them went on to play sports in high school. From there they each played college basketball, and graduated in 4 years.

Bullying and Exclusion of a Teammate

“My 12-year-old daughter is new to her soccer team and is being bullied by a group of her teammates. In practices and games, whenever she makes a mistake, this group of teammates whisper and seem to snicker about what she did.”

Advice from PCA:

I have been playing soccer since I was 12, and it would be a great pity if the unkind behavior of her teammates caused your daughter to stop playing. Having your support to deal with this upsetting experience can help your daughter learn to protect herself and others from bullying and harassment throughout her life.
