Each year, the mayor of Denver honors students from Denver Public Schools as Mile High Scholars in a citywide ceremony. Students are selected by the principal and faculty of their school for modeling leadership skills, respecting the school environment and supporting his or her peers. A big congratulations to Angela Naranjo and Osuke Fujiwara for receiving such a prestigious honor and representing Steck so well! These students received a certificate and a picture with the mayor.

Today the ECE and 4th grade students released the butterflies they had been raising from a larval stage. It was spectacular!

Parents! Please bring your children to a reception to honor this year’s staff retirees: Robin Kline, Anda Seale, Holly Grady, and Kathy Eichenberger. We will celebrate with cake, a slide show, and well wishes for these incredible educators. Students at Steck Elementary School will have 9 late start days for the 2019-2020 school year. These late starts will be used for important Professional Learning time for teachers and staff. School will begin 2 hours and 20 minutes later each late start day at 10:30 am. This will be a great opportunity for parents to schedule dental/medical appointments throughout the year which won't conflict with school hours!
