Where are they now?

Dedication, hard work, and perseverance. Kyra joined the TRP program in June 2024 with an open mind towards all the trades and an interest in electrical work. Learning the competitive nature and sometimes lengthy process to enter the electrical trades, Kyra was determined to make it happen. They dedicated themself to working hard in class, studying outside of class and hustling to find opportunities upon graduation. After graduation in August 2024, multiple companies that showed an interest in Kyra asked them to wait, be patient, the time will come.

Kyra would come back to ANEW on their own time and continued to practice/train to be prepared and never stopped hustling for that opening to begin their career in the trades. In January 2025, Kyra interviewed with PSE JATC to enter the electrical apprenticeship. They are currently ranked in the top 25 applicants for the inside wire program and in the top 5 for the limited energy program. These rankings are a result of Kyra's dedication, hard work, and perseverance!

Pre-Apprenticeship Training

Summit Sierra

Youth Exploration Graduation

On December 19th, 2024, ANEW staff, along with family and friends, celebrated the achievements of 8 Youth Exploration graduates from Summit Sierra Charter School. The Youth Exploration Program aims to introduce career exploration to in-school youth ages 14-21 with documented disabilities, connecting them to apprenticeable pathways in the trades.

The program includes:

  • Work-Readiness Classroom Workshops: In-person throughout the school year.

  • Summer Boot Camps: 40-hour paid training focused on work-based learning.

  • Exploring Trades Careers: Opportunities for job site tours, informational interviews, and job shadowing.

  • Strength Building: Developing skills for self-advocacy, workplace communication, and team collaboration.

The goal of the program is to spark interest in ANEW’s Trades Rotation Program (TRP) and Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Education (PACE) Program. These 12-week pre-apprenticeship training programs prepare individuals for careers in the construction trades, giving them the skills and confidence needed to succeed in apprenticeship programs and high-paying construction jobs.
