Common Denominators
A Unique Instrument-Building, STEM & Music Workshop

Does your child enjoy hands-on, creative activities like model building and music making? Enroll them in Common Denominators – a unique instrument-building and music-making STEAM workshop!

Common Denominators is a highly innovative learning program that deeply integrates STEM and music. Students progress through a design and discovery process, developing key S cience, T echnology, E ngineering and M ath skills through the lens and structure of music.

Students will explore acoustics and instrument-building via kits from South Bend Woodworks, then work towards a performance of their own composition. Along the way, students will learn about combined STEM/music properties such as pitch, vibration and timbre while participating in an ensemble environment promoting teamwork, social skills, and community engagement.

The program fosters creativity via an innovative, flexible curriculum with built-in evaluative tools.

  • Two Saturdays: September 14th and 21st
  • 1 to 5 p.m
  • Program is capped at 30 students
  • 3rd-5th grades
  • $150 registration fee, includes both days (8 hours), snacks, take-home instrument
  • Program will be held at The Music Village

The Music Village Benefit Concert Series Returns
Join us Friday, October 25th for an evening of acoustic guitar mastery with a dash of comedy, as TMV proudly presents Richard Gilewitz in concert.

The Music Village is breaking down the barriers between artist and audience by hosting this concert series in an intimate, relaxed, face-to-face setting.

Join us for this casual-yet-elegant evening in TMV's main room, and help us continue our mission of Building Community Through Music. Proceeds from ticket sales will support TMV community outreach programs.

Tickets for this fall themed benefit concert are $50 per person and include one alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink and a wide variety of hors d'oeuvres. Additional beer and spirits will be available for purchase from South Bend Brew Werks.
