MESSAGE FROM THE RECTOR

I am thrilled to share that we will welcome the Rt. Rev. Chilton Knudsen back to our pulpit this Sunday. Though retired, Bishop Chilton continues to bless us all with her ministry, sharing her deep wisdom and her calm, quiet assurance of God’s presence at work in our lives. In times like these, her voice and insights are a welcome gift—a reminder of God’s steadfast love and faithfulness.

Bishop Chilton holds a deep fondness for All Saints and the people who make this parish a place of grace, fellowship, and mission. Our ministries and community have touched her heart, and she eagerly anticipates reuniting with each of you. It’s a special joy for her to join us, and I know she’ll bring warmth, encouragement, and reflection as she preaches.

Sunday is also our Outreach Breakfast, so come to church ready to share in a hearty meal, support our outreach efforts, and connect with one another. Empty bellies and full hearts (and wallets!) are all welcome as we gather to support the work God has called us to here at All Saints.

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday, and I hope you’ll bring a friend or family member to share in the blessings of this special day.

Calling All Potential Vestry Members!

It is that time of year again when we are looking for parishioners willing and excited to sit for election to the vestry at our Annual Meeting. If you are interested in being on vestry OR have questions about being on vestry, please contact either me or Hope.

To be eligible to sit for election to vestry, you much:

• attend worship regularly
• be at least 16 y/o
• commit to a 3 year term
• make a financial pledge

Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets

As we begin to think of the Thanksgiving season, our thoughts turn to Turkey dinners, Family and our many Blessings -- and to those less fortunate. We can share our blessings by providing families with Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners they would otherwise not enjoy. Please consider joining other All Saints’ parishioners in our THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS BASKET ministry. The cost for each basket this year is $50.00. You can write a check with a notation in the memo section and put it in the offering plate, or use Easy Tithe and select “Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets”.  As in years past, you may make a gift of $100.00 or more and designate how you would like the amount divided. We will be collecting gifts for these Holiday baskets through December 24^th. Thank you for sharing your blessings!

ECW Updates

The ECW monthly business meeting will be held this Saturday, Nov. 16th, beginning at 9AM in the downstairs parish hall. We will firming up all things related to the Christmas Market. Please be sure to join us as we finalize our plans and what still needs to be done. Sign up to volunteer, helping us ensure a successful event! You can SIGN UP HERE.

ALL women of the parish are welcome to join us in our mission to serve the parish and community. While we do have meetings monthly (3rd Saturday of the month at 9AM in the parish hall), we recognize that not everyone can attend. HEALTH MINISTRY CORNER

“Praise God from whom all blessings

flow.” Thursday, November 7, 2024 was a great day at All Saints. Thirty six (36) individuals came and participated in a very successful blood donor drive. Ten of the donors were first time donors and hopefully, it will not be their last time donating blood. We had a total of 27 products donated and as the American Red Cross representative on site told us, this amount can/will save 60 lives which is HUGE!!!!!! One third of the donors were from All Saints and the other donors were from all over the community. When you entered the room that was set up for the blood donors, you felt a sweet, sweet spirit. You heard laughter and essential jazz and you saw lots of smiling faces. Thanks be to God for allowing us to make such an impact during a time when there is quite a shortage of blood. A special thanks to all who participated in the blood donor drive and to all who volunteered to help with making this event an overwhelming success. Special thanks to David Lippe for spearheading this event. The Health Ministry is planning to make this an annual event.

SAVE THE DATE!

All Saints Fall Campus Cleanup, Fun and Fellowship on December 7th. 

Come out on December 7th, 10 AM – 1 PM, alone or with your family to help cleanup the All Saints Church Campus ahead of our December 14th Christmas Market and our annual Wreaths Across America to honor the veterans in our cemetery. 

This is perfect time to have fun with the family as we serve so we can showcase a clean Campus for the community to see at these events.

All you need to bring is your gloves, rakes, tarps, blowers and above all yourself to make this another successful clean-up day. Come for a few hours or stick around for a free light lunch thanks to the Episcopal Church Women. Refreshments will be provided throughout the day.

Save the Date: Our annual Wreaths Across America ceremony will be held at noon on Saturday, December 14. Anyone wishing to have a private moment to lay the wreath on the grave of your own family member in our cemetery should report to the event organizers by 11:30 am to lay the wreath before the ceremony begins. All other wreaths will be laid following the ceremony by event guests and volunteers. All veterans buried at All Saints will be honored.

CHRISTMAS MARKET NEWS

December 14th is right around the corner!

Are you as excited as we are? Is your calendar marked for a day of holiday spirit, holiday shopping and lots of fun? Are you ready to shop 'til you drop? Have you visited the signup.com site to include some volunteer fun at the market? As always, we need lots of VOLUNTEERS to help us make this community event a SUCCESS! The ECW is looking forward to seeing all of our parish family members December 14th from 10 AM to 4 PM.

We will have a Christmas Swag station again this year, we are asking for donations of bittersweet, holly, pine cones and other pine trimmings (not Douglas Fir) - whatever you think will look good on a swag. Please wait until just before Christmas Market to cut and bring your swag cuttings to the Parish Hall on December 11th or 12th.

Of course, we will have our Glühwein yet and hot cocoa booth again this year. If you haven't tasted our delicious Glühwein, be sure to try some this year. (Here's a little hint: don't wait until later in the day to get a mug of Glühwein because we might just run out!) Let's all hope and pray for a good weather day, with maybe even a little snow, bringing lots of visitors to the Glühwein and hot cocoa station in front of the parish hall!

CALLING ALL BAKERS!

The ECW bake sale is always a super successful part of the Christmas Market. Return visitors often ask when they walk in, “Where is the bake sale?” We are looking for all the bakers in the All Saints community to bring delicious goodies for us to sell. Our goal, as always, is to SELL OUT! More information is available in the flyer below.

Kairos Prayer Vigil

Deacon Chip Tucker will be serving on a Kairos Prison Ministry Team November 14-17 at Jessup Correctional Institute. Kairos seeks to share the transformative love and forgiveness of Jesus to impact the hearts and lives of those who are incarcerated. There will be a round-the-clock prayer vigil to support the weekend and your prayers are requested. The team is asking those who are able to pray for a half-hour time block. The link for the sign-up is https://www.prayervigils.net/vigil.php?pvId=1937.

News from the Northern Calvert Little Free Pantry

The pantry is low on toiletries! If you can donate any of the below items the next time you stop by - please do! Also - items like diapers, wipes, formula, etc. for the little ones are always needed. (Just not huge packages because we only have so much room.)

In addition, the remaining shelves in the pantry (located in the lower level parking lot) are always in need of replenishment. Suggested items to fill the shelves include tuna and crackers, boxed milk and cereal, juice boxes, canned chicken, beans and rice, cooking oil, cake mix and frosting, protein bars, and condiments in plastic containers.

Festival Of Carols And Messiah Sing

St. James' Parish in Lothian will be having their Festival of Carols and Messiah Sing on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 4:00pm. Justin Caithaml will be directing and will bring his wonderful musicians from the University of Maryland to complete our ensemble. Come, enjoy the music and sing along with our neighbors at St. James' Parish.

Advent Walks

The Vestry of Christ Church is looking for someone to lead the Advent Walks this year. Rev. Charity Humm led this for several. years. They would be held on Tuesdays, December 3rd, 10th, and 17th, at 4 p.m. You would prepare a brief Advent reflection, take a walk on Christ Church's trails, and fellowship by the fire. Bundle up and bring a flashlight or headlamp since twilight comes early in December. (You would be in deer season, so you might want to wear blaze orange or other bright clothing, as well.) We meet at the back porch of the Christ Church Parish Hall. Charity used Living Compass Living Well through Advent 2023 for reflections, (https://www.livingcompass.org/advent). Please speak with Lucretia, Interim Rector, (410-586-0565), or Nancy Zinn, Sr. Warden, (410-586-0682) if you would like to take charge of these Advent Walks. Thank you, Christ Church.

The Men's Breakfast is always the first Saturday of every month at 9:00 am at Traders Restaurant in Chesapeake Beach. Jim Thrift, our convener, will be in attendance setting up the room before 9:00. The breakfasts are for all Christian men for fellowship and fun. We discuss most everything except religion. Plan to attend and bring a friend as all are welcome, especially newcomers. If you attend you'll have fun, if you don't, we'll talk about you.
