Yesterday, many of us celebrated the 4th of July with fireworks, barbecues, and gatherings with family and friends. As I watched the beautiful fireworks at the beach, my heart was filled with gratitude for the many blessings in my life and in our community. The dazzling bursts of light in the night sky reminded me of the countless ways we are blessed with freedom, democracy, loving / caring and a continual striving for justice and peace for all people.
These blessings are not just national ideals but gifts from God, calling us to reflect on how we can live out these values in our daily lives. As we enjoy the freedoms we have, let us remember to glorify God who grants us these gifts and calls us to use them to love our neighbors and build a just and compassionate world.
This Sunday, we have the honor of welcoming the Rev. Dr. John Wedgwood-Greenhow as our guest preacher. We are also blessed to have him join us for a special moment of gratitude and celebration as we bless the beautiful new green frontal he generously gifted to our church. The frontal is a gift to the church and so is John!
Additionally, as it is the first Sunday of the month, we will celebrate all the birthdays and anniversaries that take place in July, including our nation's birthday! This is a wonderful opportunity to give thanks for the lives and commitments of our fellow parishioners, acknowledging the joy and love that we share as a church family.
As we continue to reflect on the significance of our national celebrations, let us also reflect on all the blessings in our lives, glorifying God in all that we do. May our hearts be like those fireworks, bursting with gratitude and love, illuminating the world with the light of Christ.

PS: The Parish Picnic is next Friday, July 12, beginning at 5pm at the RECTORY. Bring a bite to share if you can and a chair if you'd like to sit outside...looking forward to seeing you all!

So... What's with C4's increased emphasis on funding?!
First: Everyone involved in C4 is enormously grateful to all those who have given to make it "go." Second: It's understandable to think, "Hey, I already gave!, "I give to others." or, "It's someone else's turn."
But, reality is different. Three years of thought, effort, fundraising, community workshops, involvement with subject-matter experts and community – and far from least, the hard work of client-members and their liaisons – have now created the conditions that can make it last and actually change things for generations. What were the chances? But, that's only the prologue.
One of my favorite observations is the one about the difference between a chicken's and a pig's interest in breakfast: ... one provides a contribution; the other makes a commitment. C4 is at that stage. Without sustained commitment, it cannot achieve its potential; but with commitment...! The example of the people of All Saints – its "mother church" – is critical; not just because money itself makes a difference, but more importantly because our actions, the example of All Saints, inspire others, including grant-making organizations, to join in.
Please prayerfully consider (and set aside the few minutes necessary), becoming a recurring monthly donor. Clicking on this link (or pasting it into your browser) will take you to a C4 PayPal site accepting debit and credit cards: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=VB3MXRFXYHHKU .
Checks annotated for C4 in the offering plates or mail also work wonders!
With Heartfelt Thanks,
Kip At Lee

The crafting/needlework group will be meeting in person next week, Thursday, July 11th from 1 - 3 pm upstairs in the parish hall lounge.
If you want to learn how to knit or crochet, we can help with that. Bring your supplies or if you have none, we've got it covered! We have had people bring their embroidery project or even their coloring book to work on. If you would just like to join us to chat, we would be happy to have you, no crafting required. All are welcome. If you have a friend who would like to come, please let them know. We hope to see you there.
If you have any questions, please contact Cindy Overstrom at cynthiaoverstrom@gmail.com or 410-286-8060.
