State Bar of Texas Paralegal Division elects Susi Boss as President

State Bar of Texas Paralegal Division elects SABA member Susi Boss as President on June 25, 2021. Boss will lead the 2021-22 State Bar of Texas Paralegal Division Executive Board and Board of Directors.

Boss first joined the division in 2003 and served as President-Elect since January 31, 2020 in addition to being parliamentarian and District 5 director. She is also parliamentarian of the San Antonio Paralegal Association.
19th Annual Law Day Essay Contest Winners

In honor of Law Day each year, SABA Federal Courts Committee hosts an Editorial Contest for Fox Tech High School Law Magnet Program. This contest provides an opportunity for the seniors to demonstrate their writing skills and a chance to receive college scholarships. Since its inception, the contest has benefited 100 students with cash prizes ranging from $350 to $1,500.00 dollars! The 2021 recipients are listed below:

1st Place ($1,000) - Jade Cruz
2nd Place ($600) - Sydney Verbena
3rd Place ($400) - Abbigayle Hernandez
Honorable Mention ($150) - Hector Espino

Attorney Michael M. Parker has been selected as the next bankruptcy judge for the San Antonio Division of the Western District of Texas. Parker will be replacing The Honorable Ronald B. King, Chief U.S. Bankruptcy Judge on November 2nd.

Allen M. DeBard Receives Certification in Bankruptcy Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization

Langley & Banack, Inc. attorney Allen M. DeBard received Board Certification in the area of Bankruptcy Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS).

DeBard has extensive and diverse bankruptcy experience, which includes representation of debtors, lenders, creditor committees, asset purchasers, landlords and trustees, and has represented clients in healthcare, retail, energy, construction and real estate.

Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced that Daniela Gonzales Aldape will join its Product Liability and Class Action Practice Group as a Member in the firm’s San Antonio office. Aldape joins Dykema after practicing with Prichard Young LLP in San Antonio for the past 17 years. Aldape’s start date with Dykema was August 1, 2021.

Aldape focuses her practice on product liability and commercial litigation and has extensive experience representing clients in the automotive industry, namely original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). READ MORE >
