Amanda will be leaving JCPA, her last day is August 30, to pursue new adventures. We will miss her positive demeanor and can-do attitude and we know she will make an impact in all that she does. Join us in thanking Amanda for her time and dedication to the firm and our clients.

WELCOME!!

We would like to welcome Lori Calkins to our Jellison CPA team. Lori is excited to begin working with Jellison CPA as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk. She has a BA in Accounting and over 38 years of experience. Lori recently moved to Howell with her husband of 30 years. They have been renovating an old farmhouse and developing their property, which includes a pond, creek, and lots of wildlife.  Their children and grandchildren live just a minute away, and she spends much of her free time with them. Lori and her family are members of Howell Bible Church. As a newcomer to the area, she looks forward to exploring Livingston County and welcomes recommendations for places to visit or shop. Please help us in welcoming Lori to our team!!

State retirement tax repealed

In March, state lawmakers approved changes to the state tax on pension and retirement income. This Public Act (PA) 4 of 2023 gradually rolls back the income tax on pension income over four years based on one's age. For the 2023 tax year, those born in 1959 or after do not qualify. As the law is phased in, additional retirees become eligible. By 2026, all pensioners are eligible for the full deduction. Retired sergeants and troopers who receive a pension for the State Police Retirement System are exempt from state income tax on their pension income beginning with the 2023 tax year, regardless of age.
