Fall Conferences

A note from the OM

Sign up invitations for fall conferences were sent out Thursday, October 4th. Per the newsletter September 16th, fall conferences are by invitation only. This will include 12th grade students and students new to the North Phoenix Campus as well as students in need of a fall conference as deemed necessary by teachers and administration. This does not include most Archway graduates. If your student falls into these categories and you have not received an email invitation please check both parent/guardian email addresses, as well as your spam folder before contacting me. In most cases the invitation is not in the primary folder or has gone to an email address not regularly checked. If you have received your invitation please sign up ASAP so that we may plan accordingly.

Because of you…

Because of your gift to our Community Investment campaign, Humane Letters is a cornerstone of the liberal arts curriculum at North Phoenix Prep. In the 9th through 12th grades, English and History are combined in our Humane Letters courses: these are 2-hour long, daily seminars, directed socratically and revolving around readings from Western Civilization’s best works in philosophy, drama, history, autobiography, poetry, novels, and essays. Students learn to read carefully, discuss clearly, and write coherently.

Featuring, Mr. Olsen's 9th grade Humane Letters Class
Ninth grade Humane Letters is a discussion based class rooted in American literature and United States history. Over the course of the first quarter, our discussion skills have continued to grow, as has our mastery of the history of the Revolutionary War and founding of our nation. Our seminars on Adventures of Huckleberry Finn  have elicited a lively dialogue, and our corporate examination of the United States' founding documents has been particularly fruitful. I am quite proud of the work my students have done in the first quarter and I look forward to watching them continue to hone their discussion and analytical thinking skills. ~Mr. Olsen

The quality of education delivered at our school is only possible with your generous support of our Community Investment campaign. We are honored to publicly recognize those families and friends who have contributed to the Community Investment campaign. A complete list of donors is available upon request.
