Here in North Carolina and across the globe, we continue to navigate an uncertain “new normal.” However, all of us at Leyline remain confident in the future of the renewable energy market and what lies ahead.

Notably, the International Energy Association (IEA) recently published its “ Global Energy Review 2020 ,” which illustrates the impact that COVID-19 has had on the global economy and our industry. While many economies across the world are now beginning to reopen, IEA’s analysis showed a 3.8 percent decline in global energy demand in the first quarter of 2020. While global coal, gas and electricity demand were all significantly reduced, renewables posted a growth in demand, driven by larger installed capacity and priority dispatch – good news for Leyline and our industry.

This month, we highlight our work with Wind Works Power Corp . , providing financing for an innovative portfolio of wind, solar and storage projects in California. In addition, Megan Colonel, technical diligence manager at Leyline, penned an article in Renewable Energy World about the electrification of the transportation industry. This is a heavy lift that will require creativity, investment and innovation – but the pursuit of this goal is important to combatting climate change and reducing environmental impact.

Erik Lensch, CEO of Leyline, also participated in the virtual Greentech Media event, “How COVID-19 Will Impact U.S. Large Scale Solar Project Development.” Along with his fellow panelists, Erik discussed the recent challenges presented by COVID-19 and their impact on all aspects of project development, including permitting delays, supply chain disruptions, and falling demand.
