Letter from the Director - Gary Kenney

Here we are already through the 1st quarter of the year, and I am pleased to say we have been experiencing great program success. Our clients are receiving the best care from our program curriculum. They are being assigned employment opportunities and being provided transportation to and from their jobs, all without work related incidents.
There is an excitement here, because almost every client here is gainfully employed and achieving their class requirement, which leads to a more positive environment. This quarter alone we have already graduated 22 clients.
We are currently servicing five employment partners, all who have been part of our success story of re-establishing the men we serve, back to our communities. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Magnum Manufacturing, Waverly Wood Products Inc., Bates Rubber, NEMAK, Hardwoods Inc, Loretta Lynn's Restaurant and Tennsco. Because of the support of these partners, we are able to help and serve the clients that come through our doors.
Moving forward we will continue to focus on improving our food service and operations, that will provide quality meals to every man. In addition we are also continuing to improve residential life by participating in the local community and allowing the community to get involved with us.

Partner of the Quarter - Nemak

Once again, Nemak continues to set the bar high as they continue to find ways to support our clients while employed at their company. Special thanks and recognition to NEMAK Human Resources Representatives, Linda Lesperance & Samantha Hellmich for their outstanding coordination and collaboration with our Safe Harbor Reliable Coordinator, Jason Butts.
Through their constant effort to serve our clients, we have been able to successfully employ the men of Safe Harbor of Erin. We take this time to thank and acknowledge NEMAK company and its outstanding employee staff for giving our clients the opportunity of employment and new start in life.

Client Testimony - Josh Stricklin

Before coming to Safe Harbor I had become unemployed, and ultimately homeless and hungry. The life long battle I had fought with addiction had taken its toll on me. I had given up on life, and my family had given up on me. I had reached an all time low and I saw my rock bottom.
I didn't know what I was going to do, but I had to do something. By the grace of God I found Safe Harbor through a lady named Diane at the Life Line Peer Project. She did for me what I couldn't do for myself at the time. She made the phone calls necessary to get me here. When I was told they had a bed I went from hopeless to full of hope that minute.
Since arriving at Safe Harbor my life has changed dramatically. The atmosphere and staff made me feel so comfortable, and made me feel like I fit in here. I was able to participate and open up in class, and was able to sort through what was going on in my head & life. I also gave my life to Christ while being here, and knew right away that was what was missing in my life all along.
So today I feel complete and walk around with my head up and a smile on my face. Today I have a job, and it's a good one. I have a peace of mind and a purpose in life. Today I can be the father, friend & brother that God intended me to be. I want to say thank you to Safe Harbor and all the staff here in Erin, TN.

Safe Harbor Erin Evening worship was powerful, and we followed with the great opportunity to do baptism for 4 great men, Trenton Jones, Jamison Whitten, Brandon Weaver, and Justin Anderson. Much appreciation to Pastor Scott of the Garden Church celebrating with us, he just wanted to be there for the men who were being baptized and he assisted me tonight. Another great evening of fellowship.

“Had a great time this morning in Erin. 20 volunteers went downtown to the square to help vendors set up for the St Patrick’s Day Parade. Leah Baggett from the Chamber of Commerce pulled me aside to tell me she was receiving praise from the vendors for all the help they were getting from our guys, helping set up tents & unloading their trailers. She asked me if she could call me again next year to do this again.
I’m honored to be a part of Safe Harbor and so proud of these guys in Erin. After we finished this morning I took all the guys to PaPa’s BBQ for a great country breakfast and they loved it.” - Jason Butts

We want to thank Cheryl Miller and Jeffrey McManis, who graduates our program next month. They have been incredible supporters of what we do here at Safe Harbor, with the men, and wanted to wish our guys a Happy Easter!
