2019 Greater Philadelphia Social Innovation Awards Ceremony.
On January 24, Impact100 Philadelphia was honored as a finalist in the “Out of the Box Social Investing” category at the 2019 Greater Philadelphia Social Innovation Awards, hosted by the Social Innovations Journal. This year’s ceremony celebrated “the region’s most passionate and accomplished social innovators and entrepreneurs and the work they are doing to make Greater Philadelphia a more inclusive, equitable, and thriving region of opportunity for all residents.”

This fall, Impact100 Philadelphia was honored by a 2017 Core Mission Grant recipient. Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) inducted our organization into their Pillar Society, which recognizes donors of $100,000 and above. MLK Day at James Wright Recreation Center
Impact100 Philadelphia members braved howling winds and bitter cold to sort, clean, and paint at the James Wright Recreation Center in Mantua, a neighborhood in West Philadelphia. Special thanks to Kathleen Grady for organizing this service opportunity, and members Lauren Shepard, Carol Sacks, Lisa Jacobs, Wendy Liebling, and Rosemarie Fabien for their enthusiastic participation.

We believe that Martin Luther King Day of Service is one day, but not the only day, to engage in service in the greater Philadelphia area. Additional events are already on the calendar. Grants Process Training
On the evening of Monday, January 28, 70 new and returning members of Impact100 Philadelphia’s Focus Area Committees ventured into the bitter cold and gathered at Friends Central Upper School for a training sponsored by the Grants Planning Committee. The training began with a presentation by Toby Gang and Renee Applegate, Grants Co- Chairs. They were joined by other seasoned Impact100 Philadelphia members, who thoroughly explained the grants review process, our funding requirements and priorities, and the role of the Financial Review Panel in evaluating grant proposals. All of the presentations described both the art and science of document review and the collective decision-making process.
