The Historic Trust will once again host The Vancouver Chautauqua at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site and Providence Academy. The event is in its third year and modeled after similar gatherings, first held in 1874 in Chautauqua, NY., followed by other places around the country, including Vancouver in 1913. The iconic chautauquas popular in late 19th and early 20th century America and featured speakers, teachers, musicians, entertainers, and craftsmen together for the entertainment and education of the community.
Groups, individuals, and ensembles are encouraged to submit applications to be a part of this exciting and dynamic venture to share across generations and experiences. This year performances, workshops and exhibitions will be ticketed events. The Historic Trust will host a combination of ticketed and free events. The public is invited to create their own contributions to The Vancouver Chautauqua at no cost to participants. The application to participate can be found through the button below:
