US DOT Issues National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program Guidelines
|
|
The NGVI will be used to fund a network of 500,000 EVSE, and funding will be provided only after a State Plan has been submitted and approved.

US DOE $3B for Advanced Batteries
|
|
The US Department of Energy has announced a plan to grant nearly $3B to boost domestic production capabilities for advanced batteries and battery materials production.
|

SMUD’s Charge@Home incentive program began on December 8 and lasts until February 28, 2022. SMUD residential customers who have purchased or leased a new or used EV may qualify for up to $500 for the purchase of a Level 2 charger and up to $500 for installation by a licensed electrician.

EPA Clean School Bus Program
|
|
The Clean School Bus Program provides $5 billion over five years (FY 2022-2026) for the replacement of existing school buses with clean school buses and zero-emission school buses. EPA intends to open a rebate program as early as April 2022.
Eligible recipients for this funding include:
- State and local governments,
- Nonprofit school transportation associations, and
- Tribes, Tribal organizations or Tribal-controlled schools.

CARB Off-Road Voucher Meeting
|
|
CARB will hold a public meeting on the Clean Off-Road Equipment voucher Incentive Project (CORE) on February 17 at 9am.

CARB MD/HD Costs and Funding Workgroup
|
|
CARB will be holding two workgroup meetings on 2/22/22 and 3/10/22 from 8:30 - 2:00 to review costs and funding for MD/HD electric vehicles relative to electricity and the grid. Individuals interested in participating in the workgroup meetings need to complete an application form.

CARB Workshop on 2022-23 Funding Plan for Clean Transportation Incentives

CARB will hold a public workshop on March 15 from 9am - 2pm on the 2022-23 Air Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) fund and Low Carbon Transportation Investments.

CARB has published the proposed schedule for completing and adopting a more stringent set of emission standards that will accelerate ZEV and PHEV implementation.

GO-Biz Awards $5M for EV Education
|
|
The Governor’s Office of Business Development, GO-Biz, has awarded $5M to Valley Clean Air and VELOZ to Improve Zero-Emission Vehicle Consumer Awareness. Valley Clean Air is the San Joaquin Valley Clean Cities Coalition, headed up by Linda Urada and Robert Garnsey.

Ford has hired Doug Field, a former executive with Tesla. As their Chief Advanced Technology and Embedded Systems Officer, Mr. Field will work on Ford’s digitally-connected products and services.

City of Fairfield Green Fleet
|
|
The City of Fairfield Fleet has been making major strides to greening their fleet. They have two Cat EV forklifts, a Ford eTransit Van and a Ford F150 Lightning and a third Cat EV Forklift on order.
|
|
Fleets that have begun implementation HD BEVs have encountered issues that have to be evaluated and managed, including high acquisition costs, complex infrastructure requirements and resale value of a first-generation electric tractor. “Transport Topics” has produced a white paper of the issues and solutions these fleets have faced and overcome.

Pacifica Hybrid Battery Fires
|
|
Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, is recalling 19,000 2017 & 2018 Pacifica Minivans after identifying 12 battery fires in these vehicles. Pacifica owners are advised not to charge these vehicles until repairs are made.
