EVs More Trouble Prone than ICEs
EVs have turned out to be more prone to problems than ICEs, not due to fundamental power and drivetrain problems, but due to user interface technologies that fail.
The year-over-year average price of EVs increased by 22% to $54K. The average ICE increased 14% to $44,400 over the same period. Much of the increase is due to the rising cost of the rare earth metals in batteries and motors that rose 140% from an average of $3,381 to an average of $8,255. Nearly all the rare earth metals needed come from China or countries economically tied to China.
