ZEV Truck Event
Sacramento Clean Cities and Enoven Co-hosted an informative ZEV Truck Display & Ride-and-Drive, along with technical presentations and a hosted lunch. The vehicles on display came from Bollinger, Drive Labs, Freightliner, Kenworth, Mullen, Peterson and Riverview plus an Idle Reduction and ePTO system from Vanair. Fairfield Fleet Position Listing
The City of Fairfield Fleet Management Department is listing a position for a Management Analyst 1. This will be an ideal position for a person that is interested in getting into fleet management, grow as an analyst, and has a passion for electrification. The benefits are outstanding and the selected candidate will have the chance to work very closely on Fairfield’s electrification program. The position listing can be found on the Government Jobs Website.

EPA Upcoming Funding Opportunity
In February, EPA will release a call for applications for its Clean Ports Program. This program will make $2.6 billion available for the zero-emissions equipment and infrastructure and $300 million available for climate and air quality planning projects.

  • $40.5M available
  • Projects that will deploy high-powered direct current fast charger (DCFC)
  • Minimum of four 150kW chargers per site

Micro-Grant Opportunity
The National Clean Cities Program is opening another “Jumpstart” funding round with applications due February 9. Jumpstart funds are available for projects that are not on the list of required deliverables for Clean Cities Coalitions. Mullen ONE Compact Van
The Mullen ONE compact van, designed especially for narrow streets, tight parking spaces and campus operations is available to be pre-ordered for early 2024 delivery now. The Mullen ONE was one of the displays at the ZEV Truck Ride & Drive co-hosted by Sacramento Clean Cities and Enoven on December 6 at the Maidu Community Center in Roseville.

Half the EVs Tested Underperformed on EPA Mileage Rating
Consumer Reports tested 22 EVs driving at a steady 70mph and found that half did not meet the EPA rating, mostly due to a lack of both city and highway standards for EVs. Mileages can also vary significantly based on temperature, grades and even wind conditions.

Stellantis Fights CARB's Emission Standards
Stellantis is petitioning California, claiming that there was a secret negotiation between CARB some auto makers that Stellantis was not allowed to join, and that violates the California Administrative Procedure Act.

DOE $42M Fusion Grants
The US DOE is posting $42M to fund three fusion energy hubs including one at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). LLNL achieved fusion ignition for the first time in scientific history last year.

Coal Use Soaring Worldwide
Despite Climate Envoy John Kerry’s passionate pleas, worldwide use of coal for power production is growing. Over 50% of worldwide coal use growth is happening in China. Ironically, much of the demand for this power comes from the energy necessary to extract and process minerals for electric vehicles, solar panels and wind turbines.
