Innovative Small E-Fleet (ISEF) Funding
  • $83M set aside for ISEF within the HVIP Program
  • Incentives for small fleets that seek to deploy battery electric or hydrogen fuel cell trucks
  • Fleets with < 20 trucks and <$15M annual revenue (NGOs are exempt from the revenue cap)
  • Program runs until all funds are allocated

CEC GFO-23-607 - Tribal Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, Planning, and Workforce Development
  • The purpose of this solicitation is to provide funding for Tribes, Tribal Organizations, and Tribally-owned businesses for:
  • Project Activity 1 – EV Charging Infrastructure: installing charging infrastructure for passenger and medium- and heavy-duty (MDHD) EV charging equipment, supporting infrastructure, and associated resiliency technologies.
  • Project Activity 2 – EV Infrastructure Planning: activities to support tribal participation in future EV funding opportunities and to enable tribes to plan for EV adoption.
  • Project Activity 3 – EV Workforce Training and Development: activities that support careers in EVs, EV infrastructure, and EV-related technologies.
  • $400,000 - $3,000,000 per award ($10,000,000 total)
  • SUBMISSION DEADLINE April 24, 2024

DOE Notice of Intent to Fund
The US DOE has announced that they plan to issue Funding Opportunity Notices in 2024 to advance research, development, demonstration, deployment & technology integration in multiple areas: 
  • Developing new chemistries for reduced cost, higher energy density electric vehicle (EV) batteries;
  • RDD&D to provide wide-scale, cyber-secure EVs and EV charging infrastructure;
  • Low-greenhouse gas emission concepts for off-road vehicles;
  • Manufacturing high-performance electric steels using domestic resources;
  • Improving the mobility system through vehicle-to-everything approaches;
  • Zero-emission vehicle and infrastructure training for first responders and emergency response professionals;
  • Enabling Clean Cities coalitions to undertake high-impact outreach, engagement, and technical assistance activities.

Ford Cuts EV Workforce
Ford’s December announcement that they will cut Lightning production by 50% due to soft demand will result in 1,400 auto workers being laid off at the manufacturing plant where the Lightning is produced.

VW's Final $800M
VW has spent their final $800M on Electrify America chargers, closing out their obligation related to the diesel engine ‘emission-cheating’ scandal, and CARB is set to clear them. However, EV owners are not happy with the performance of the Electrify America chargers.

Toyota Chairman Caps EVs at 30% of Market
Toyota’s Chairman, Akio Toyoda, believes that BEVs will top out at 30% of the market, with hybrids, fuel cells and combustion engines making up the balance, and has proposed two ICE development plans.
