County of Sacramento Ranked Second in NAFA's Top 100 Fleets in the Americas
The “100 Best Fleets in the Americas” program recognizes peak-performing public and commercial fleet operations. This program identifies and encourages the ever-increasing levels of performance improvement and innovation within the fleet industry. The purpose of this program is to help:
Foster pride in the industry;
Build recognition within the national fleet community;
Increase levels of productivity and operational effectiveness;
Encourage more individuals to consider fleet operations as a career choice.
This year, The County of Sacramento Fleet Management Program placed second out of the top 100 public agency fleets in the Americas. Headed up by Keith Leech, Chief of Fleet Division and Parking Enterprise, has led his fleet with the implementation of major emission reduction and carbon reduction strategies across the entire spectrum of fleet vehicles. In addition to Sacramento County, 15 other public agencies located in various Clean Cities Coalitions in California placed in the top 100.

CATL Battery Targeting Aviation Applications
CATL has used a mix of the highest efficiency cathode, anode and other components to develop a battery with 500 Wh/kg, over twice the energy density of current EV batteries, eyeing batteries for aviation applications. (Note: The Tesla ModelS has a battery energy density of 247 Wh/kg and the Chevy Bolt has an energy density of 237 Wh/kg.)

Power Grid Congestion Leads to Soaring Energy Costs
“Utility Dive” reports, “Costs to consumers from congestion on the U.S. power grid more than doubled to an estimated $13.3 billion in 2021 from the year before, and will likely keep rising until transmission capacity is built.” Without a very significant growth in transmission lines, power can’t be moved from the lowest cost locations when demand peaks. Simply building more renewable sources does not solve this problem.
