The US DOT announced new guidance and $7.3 billion in over five years to help states and communities prepare for and respond to extreme weather events like wildfires, flooding, and extreme heat.

The Inflation Reduction Act has a tax credit provision, but as currently written, the credit is only available for EVs that are made in North America, and made with components that are also sourced in North America. Other provisions in the Act include:.
- Tax-exempt entities [e.g. government fleets] would have the option of electing to receive direct payments from the U.S. Treasury
- Extends the credit for alternative fuel refueling property through December 31, 2032, with some modifications.
- Extension of excise tax credits for alternative fuels, biodiesel, and renewable diesel.
