Grant Opportunities
HVIP Reopens
The HVIP Program will re-open at 10 a.m, March 30, 2022. Additionally, the following set-aside funds will also become available at the same time.
  • $65.5 million for public transit buses
  • $46 million for Class 8 tractors performing drayage operations
  • $122 million for the Public School Bus Set-Aside for Small and Medium Air Districts
  • School bus requests ineligible for the set-aside will be funded out of standard HVIP

2022 Tribal EJ Small Grants Opportunity
The EPA has announced that the 2022 Tribal EJ Small Grants Opportunity program is now open for applications that support community-driven projects designed to engage, educate, and empower communities to better understand local environmental and public health issues and develop strategies for addressing those issues, building consensus in the community, and setting community priorities. For this single funding announcement, EPA is limiting eligible applicants to federally recognized tribal governments. Applicants may request up to $100,000. Approximately 16 to 20 EJ Small Grants will be awarded to federally recognized tribal governments nationwide.

California Office of Planning and Research (OPR) is expected to release solicitations for the Community Economic Resilience Fund (CERF) in May. CERF is a program to support regional economies with an equitable and sustainable recovery from the economic distress of the COVID-19 pandemic. Valley Vision is tracking this grant program.

EPA Proposes New HD Emission Standards
The EPA proposed new emission standards for HD vehicles starting in 2027. The new standards would mandate a 50% NOx reduction by 2040. The new standards would also change emission test procedures, useful life emission warranties and require HD GHG updates.

NHTSA Eliminates Manual Driving Control Requirement in Autonomous Vehicles
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued final rules lifting the mandate on manufacturers to include manual driving controls to meet crash standards on autonomous vehicles.
