SMUD Incentive
SMUD’ Charge@Home incentive program began on December 8 and lasts until February 28, 2022. SMUD residential customers who have purchased or leased a new or used EV may quality for up to $500 for the purchase of a Level 2 charger and up to $500 for installation by a licensed electrician.

DOE Jobs
The DOE, under the Infrastructure Bill, is directed to add 1,000 new “Clean Energy Jobs,” and to get this done they have created a website for applicants. The website is active, but getting the positions created will take time and the actual recruitment process is not expected to begin for six months.

Imports of electric two-wheel eBikes rose from 463,000 in 2020 to 790,000 in 2021, a 58% increase, with eBikes actually outselling EVs in 2021 by 327,000 units.

Fleets Concerned Over MD/HD EVs
A recent survey of fleets done by Government Fleet Magazine indicated fleets are concerned about the performance of MD/HD EVs. 71% said they didn’t think EV trucks, as they are now, will be capable of accomplishing the same amount of work as traditional vehicles.
