8/24- The 2020 Green Technology Summit and Expo
  • has been rescheduled to August 24-26 due to coronavirus.
  • Originally scheduled for April 13 – 15.
  • Sac Clean Cities Coalition Stakeholders qualify for a registration discount if they use SACCC30. This year’s event will be combined with the US EPA’s West Coast Collaborative Partner’s Meeting, and will include fleet focused sessions on recruiting, training and keeping technicians, regulatory policies, renewable fuels including renewable hydrogen, and the future of mobility.

10/6 - Training for Natural Gas Vehicle Technicians
CEC Grant
The CEC will release a $22M grant solicitation with four potential Medium and Heavy Duty application categories: Depot Charging, En-Route Fast Charging, Bi-Directional Power Flow from Electric School Buses, and Electric School Bus Charging.

Telematics can help fleets operate more safely and efficiently. The State of California has awarded a single-source Blanket Purchase Agreement for telematics equipment to Sacramento Clean Cities Coalition sponsor Geotab, enabling state and local access to telematics systems without costly and time-consuming procurement delays.

Lion Electric Trucks
Lion Electric, a Sacramento Clean Cities Coalition sponsor, has sold two electric Class 8 trucks to Ecomaine, a waste-to-energy company that will power their new electric trucks with electricity made from waste material.

Alternative Fuel Insight
Daimler MT50e Truck
Daimler has introduced their electric MT50e Class 6 delivery truck chassis using a Proterra powertrain with a 226KWh battery pack. Daimler claims a 125 mile range with three hour recharging using a high-power DCFC.

EPA Proposed Fuel Economy Standards
The US EPA and the Federal Highway Administration have released their proposed fuel economy improvement standards (SAFE). The Administration claims it is the right balance of environmental benefit with consumer value. Environmentalists see it as not sufficiently aggressive in improving fuel economy and reducing emissions.

BMW Fuel Cell Vehicle
BMW is starting to talk about their planned fuel cell vehicle, the I Hydrogen Next, using a next generation 170hp fuel cell from their partnership with Toyota. BMW will include a peak power battery pack with a proposed total power output pegged at 374hp, but doesn’t plan to introduce their fuel cell vehicle until 2025.

Lithium Ion Battery Technology
Lithium Ion battery cell technology is much more complicated than the name would imply, with Lithium, Nickel, Manganese, Cobalt, Graphite, Copper, Aluminum and Carbon, all mixed in with electrolytes, plastics and binders, and all in different quantities depending on the manufacturer.

For the week ending 3/27/20, refineries in California produced 249,900 gallons of gasoline and 101,178 gallons of diesel.
