Proposed In-Use Locomotive Regulation

CARB Extends ACF Deadline
The CARB board has directed staff to draft new regulatory language in the Advanced Clean Fleets regulation to provide greater flexibility for public agencies.The redrafted language is due by winter, 2023.

  • Current regulations require fleet average emissions to be reduced
  • This regulation will mandate elimination of the older off-road vehicles

Tax Credit Comments Requested
The U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) have released three notices requesting public input on several tax credit provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). These include:
  • Credits for Clean Hydrogen Production and Clean Fuel Production
  • Credit for CO2 Sequestration
  • Credit for Commercial Clean Vehicles and AFV Refueling Property Credit

Sacramento County has an open listing to hire full-time Fleet Service Workers. The salary range is $50K to $61K with excellent benefits. Applicants will need to have some basic automotive knowledge. A partial list or requirements includes:

Nikola, a global supplier of heavy-duty, zero-emission vehicles and infrastructure has announced that they have established a partnership with ChargePoint. Nikola will be able to package ChargePoint’s charging hardware and charge management software with their battery-electric trucks.

Mean Green, manufacturers of 100% battery electric riding commercial lawn mowers has equipment eligible for CORE incentives up t $12,500.
Ford Drops Autonomous Funding
Ford, along with VW, have dropped their funding in Argo AI, walking away from the $3.6B already invested and shifting focus to technologies they can sell now versus developing technologies with less predictable timeframes for future returns on investments.

Fuel Economy Improvements and GHG Reductions
Improving the fuel economy of a heavy truck from 10 to 15 mpg will save 33 gallons for every 1,000 miles driven. The same 5 mpg improvement from 30 to 35 mpg in a car saves 5 gallons, and gallons reduced equals GHG reduced.
