Roush Clean Tech F650 Presentation
|
|
$27M Grant Available: Applications for $27M in funding from the VW Mitigation Trust will open on a first-come, first-served basis on August 18 at 1pm. Applicants must register before being able to apply, and registration is open now. The funding will be for Class 8 Freight, Waste, Dump and Concrete Mixer Trucks. Public and private fleets are eligible. This is a vehicle replacement program. The new Class 8 truck must be zero-emission, and the replaced truck must be scrapped. A [virtual] pre-application workshop will be held on August 12 at 10AM.

Sacramento Clean Cities Sponsors Make The News

Nikola, a Sacramento Clean Cities Coalition sponsor, has received an order from refuse and recycling juggernaut Republic Services, for 2,500 electric refuse trucks. Republic has ordered the Nikola “Tre,” a model that will be introduced in Europe in 2021. US deliveries will be manufactured at Nikola’s Coolidge, Arizona factory, currently under construction.

DANNAR, a Sacramento Clean Cities Coalition sponsor, inventor and supplier of the revolutionary Mobile Power System (MPS), will participate in the “2020 Energy Exchange,” a five-day virtual program on energy efficiency and resilience strategies featuring exhibits and training programs.

Roush All-Electric F650 Presentation

Roush CleanTech F650 EV: Roush, a major supporter of Clean Cities Coalitions around the US, will present their all electric Class 6 Ford F650 to the Sacramento Plug-in Electric Vehicle Collaborative August 18, at 12 noon. The Roush F650 will have a range of 100 miles with a 138kWh battery pack. The Roush presentation is co-sponsored by the Sacramento, East Bay and Long Beach Clean Cities Coalitions. Registration is not required.

The California Air Resources Board will launch their Clean Mobility Options Program Vouchers at 9am on October 20..These vouchers will provide funding for zero-emission carsharing, carpooling/vanpooling, bikesharing/scooter-sharing, innovative transit services, and ride-on-demand services in California’s historically under-served communities.

HummingBird EV All-Electric Farm Tractor

HummingBird EV has developed an all-electric 50hp farm tractor, along with a BEV Class 6 truck. In combination, the tractor can work the crops while the truck can transport the crops to the processing site, and after recharging can charge the tractor in the field!

Integrated Driving Modules Allow Ford Mach-E to Save Space

Ford is building the Mustang Mach-E crossover using an integrated motor/gearbox/power electronics/thermal management unit supplied by Borg Warner, saving space. The system uses a concentric design in the gearbox, keeping the outputs on the same axis as the motor.

Tesla Model Y Sets Benchmark for EV Crossovers

Green Car Reports says the Tesla Model Y sets the bar pretty high for the growing EV crossover field of the Mustang Mach-E, Nissan Ariya, Volkswagen ID.4 and Volvo XC40 Recharge.The Model Y “Long Range” is a two-motor, 384hp, 476pound-ft torque with a 75kWh battery pack, advertising 0-60 in 4.8 seconds.

First of its Kind LNG-Powered Vehicle Carrier

Siem Car Carriers, has launched two LNG-powered car-carrier marine vessels carrying new vehicles from factory to port. The first vessel, the Siem Confucius brought 7,500 VW sedans and SUVs from Veracruz, Mexico to Jacksonville, Florida.

A new approach to battery electric semi-trucks, large battery packs and drive axles on the trailers, making range a non-issue. Pursuing this strategy are two companies that have partnered, Amperes Technologies and Trailer Dynamics.

Mercedes Battery Partnership Targeting 400 Mile Range
|
|
Mercedes is touting their EQS, due to market next year, as having a 435 mile range, but since that is measured on a less rigorous European testing mode, their US EPA range is likely to be closer to 350. Mercedes will be sourcing their EQS batteries from CATL, a Chinese company.

AAA Car Subscriptions Offers 55 e-Golf EVs
|
|
AAA Car Subscription now offers 55 Volkswagen e-Golf electric vehicles available for short-term subscription in the Sacramento area as part of Electrify America’s Green City initiative. Terms range from three months to a year, with a number of monthly mileage options to choose from, making the service one of the most affordable options to get Sacramento residents in an EV for about $11 a day.

For the week ending 7/24/20, refineries in California produced 252,798 gallons of gasoline and 73,962 gallons of diesel. Gasoline production dropped by 1% and diesel production increased by 1% from last week’s production numbers.
