SMUD’s Charge@Home incentive program began on December 8 and lasts until February 28, 2022. SMUD residential customers who have purchased or leased a new or used EV may qualify for up to $500 for the purchase of a Level 2 charger and up to $500 for installation by a licensed electrician.

The Caltech Rocket Fund 2022 is open for applications from startups needing funds for building their first commercial product prototype. The fund has five tracks:

CARB MD/HD Costs and Funding Workgroup |
|
CARB will be holding two workgroup meetings on 2/22/22 and 3/10/22 from 8:30 - 2:00 to review costs and funding for MD/HD electric vehicles relative to electricity and the grid. Individuals interested in participating in the workgroup meetings need to complete an application form.

CARB will conduct a public meeting to consider selecting additional communities under the Community Air Protection Program on February 10 no earlier than 4pm.

Zero-Emission Airport Shuttle |
|
CARB has sent out a reminder notice that the Zero-Emission Airport Shuttle Regulation reporting deadline is March 1, 2022.

The DOE, under the Infrastructure Bill, is directed to add 1,000 new “Clean Energy Jobs,” and to get this done they have created a website for applicants. The website is active, but getting the positions created will take time and the actual recruitment process is not expected to begin for six months.

The Alt Air refinery in the City of Paramount is seeking approval to upgrade their California refinery to produce renewable propane and renewable aviation fuel. The Western Propane Gas Association will assist anyone interested in supporting the Alt Air upgrade.

ID Tech Study of EV Fires |

ID Tech has done a study of EV Fires. It appears that the occurrence of fires in EVs is less frequent (on an equivalent miles traveled basis), EV fires can have much more serious consequences because of the volatile nature of the batteries.

The average CO2 emissions from light-duty IC vehicles has dropped by 49% in the last 46 years, even though heavier pickup trucks and SUVs have become a much bigger percentage of the light-duty vehicle population.
