Career Development

Children’s Hope India’s College Scholarship initiative supports exceptional talent, underserved due to lack of access to support and funds. Our students show merit and have secured seats in leading college courses, without the means to pursue them. Many beneficiaries of the program have done exceedingly well in law, management, pharmacology, naturopathy, science and commerce, amongst others.

"Today, my parents are proud of me that I study at NIT, and have a bright future ahead of me. I remember the time, not so long ago, when they were not even aware of what NIT stood for, and didn’t want to send their daughter away from home for studies. After they saw my performance, their happiness knew no bounds..” – Kaveri, college scholarship awardee, currently working with Jubliant FoodWorks

*Jannat's Journey - From Aspiration to Inspiration

“I want a respectable job that pays well, so that I can support my family. Today, I can speak English well, am pursuing a degree, and hopeful of a good job too. I want to help and guide girls like me, so that they too can dream big, and realize these dreams.”

Jannat's biggest challenge was to rise above societal norms and the traditional expectations of girls. She had been attending classes at CHAHAK, Vikaspuri since 2019. Jannat is now enrolled in B. Com. (Hons.) on a scholarship.

“My father is a coconut seller, and is fighting blood cancer. There are still many challenges. However, I make it a point to visit CHAHAK thrice a week, and coach students of classes 6th and 7th in Math. It is a beautiful feeling to be able to give back. That is, actually, what I learnt at CHAHAK.”

Spotlight

She Does Shine

The She Shine project enables girls to become contributing members of society, and shapes them to become future leaders.

As part of this initiative, a highly engaging and impactful session on Community Engagement Services was held at CHI-Anand Parbat that was thoughtfully designed to instill a strong sense of social responsibility among the Rising Stars—young girls who are part of the ongoing empowerment programs. Through this hands-on engagement, they gained exposure to real-world issues and understood the importance of community-driven action. The 'graduation' of the current batch took place in July, 2025. The She Shine initiative will now be scaled up, with the objective of reaching other parts of India.

Eye (I) Care

Children's Hope India (CHI) is pleased to announce its collaboration with the VisionSpring Foundation (VSF), a pioneering organization dedicated to improving access to eyeglasses for low-income adults and children. This partnership aims to enhance learning outcomes among children by addressing vision issues through systematic eye screenings and the provision of corrective eyeglasses. The VSF team will:

  • Visit each CHI center to conduct eye screenings for children aged 7 years and above.

  • Provide eyeglasses to children whose screenings indicate a need for vision correction.

Kids Education Revolution

Two students from CHI-Sitapur have been selected to be a part of the

Fellows for the Future program, under the aegis of Kids Education Revolution, a Teach for India (TFI) initiative. This is a virtual program providing synchronous and asynchronous sessions for kids. Students will apply their learnings to design a change-making project within their community, empowering them to become future leaders.

How Firki Is Globalizing Teacher Skill Sets

With the objective of enhancing knowledge and skills for teachers, eight teachers from the CHI-Palghar project have been registered on the platform Firki - an online teacher education initiative that offers experiential learning experiences through a variety of formats. Upon successful completion, all teachers will receive a certificate of completion. Firki is a global community of educators and learners, enabling exposure to international pedagogical methodologies and tools.

Science Decoded

Professor Bhagwan Dattatraya Chakradeo, former Head of the Department of Physics and Associate Professor at Smt. C.H.M. College, conducted a Science demonstration at the CHI-Cuffe Parade center for 85 children. This 2-hour session was organized by Dr. (Mrs.) Vijay Dhar, a member of our Advisory Council for the CHI 30/30 Education initiative, who was also present at the event.

Professor Chakradeo brings over four decades of experience and has delivered more than 3,000 stage presentations of innovative and engaging Science experiments across India.

A STEM strategy is in the making for an even more structured and effective integration into CHI's projects.

Onwards And Upwards

CHI-Ekalavya School, Hyderabad clocked, yet again, outstanding results in the SSC examinations:

  • All 21 students passed the examination (class XII) with first class or above, marking a 100% pass rate with quality performance
  • A total of 5 students scored 90% and above, showing academic excellence. These 5 students represent 23.8% of the class (5 out of 21).
  • 17 students scored above 80%, showcasing strong performance across the batch. This accounts for 80.9% of the total students (17 out of 21).

Together For More - Partnerships in the Spotlight

  • Katha India: to encourage reading among children via 'mini' libraries
  • EnglishHelper: to conduct sessions on Functional English skills

Exchange of best practices: Team members of our partner, Shishur Sevay, visited all the centers in Delhi with the objective of observing and understanding the best practices applied.

First Person

"CHI believes that access to higher education helps break cycles of poverty and creates brighter futures." - Sagorica Rudra, Executive Board Member, CHI

For 19 years, CHI and S.I.C.W. have partnered to identify and support deserving students through the CHI Higher Education Scholarships.

During my visit to India, I had the opportunity to meet four college

scholarship recipients at S.I.C.W. (Society for Indian Children’s Welfare) in Kolkata.

There were many journeys of change that really stood out for me; one of them: Gurpreet Negi Kaur, who graduated in Commerce, top of her class. She has now begun her career with Ernst & Young (EY) Audit & Assurance Services.

"I have been an active member and supporter of Children’s Hope India for as long as I can remember. However, my understanding of the scope of CHI’s projects, while present, remained somewhat abstract until my visit to the CHI-Cuffe Parade center in Mumbai.

It was there that I was able to fully grasp the profound impact of the work being done through the CHI 30/30 Education Initiative."

Karishma Kamat, CH2 member

"The kids here have so little, yet their enthusiasm is unmatched. Back home, many of us don’t love going to school, even with all the resources we have. But these children, learning in makeshift classrooms set up in garages and abandoned buildings, bring an energy that is incredible to see. It was a surreal experience—one that will stay with us forever."

Rihaan, CH3 member, on his visit to one of the CHI projects
