INTERCESSORY PRAYER TO BEGIN ON SUNDAY

Bill and Linda White have been members at SHUMC for two years, sing in the choir and are offering a time on Sundays following the 10:00 A.M. service for Intercessory Prayer. They will be available beginning this Sunday, June 2.

Intercessory Prayer is an opportunity to have someone assist you and praying for vital concerns. All requests remain confidential unless permission is given to share with others. Since confidentially is maintained, there is no limit as to what subject can be addressed,

Bill and Linda have been doing this for about 19 years at large and small churches where they were members. In the future, they hope to offer opportunities for other individuals to join them as intercessors in this worthwhile endeavor. Rest assured you will be trained before taking on
this task.

If you are interested or would like more information, you may contact them via email blwhite32@cox.net or by phone at 623-688-7417.
Shepherd of the Hills Welcomes. . . .

The Rev. Stephanie Soon as our new part time Assistant Minister of Care beginning June 3, 2019. Rev. Soon has worked in churches for many years in a variety of positions, including music and children’s ministries. She was ordained a deacon in 2000 in the Illinois Great Rivers Conference after completing her seminary education at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary. She also holds a Master of Sacred Music from Boston University School of Theology, and completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education in pastoral care and chaplaincy services. She has served as a Hospice Chaplain since 2005. She also served as pastor of Park United Methodist Church in 2017-2018.
Rev. Soon moved to the Tempe area a year ago after her husband’s transfer. After living a year in the Southeast Valley but traveling regularly to Sun City West for pickleball, they moved to Sun City West in April (he now has a long commute to work but loves his long weekends here). When she came in to ask about how she might become involved we immediately invited her to interview for our position.
Rev. Soon will be working under the direction of Pastor Alma to meet the care needs of our congregation with focus on Hospice Care & Memorial Services. We look forward to all God has for us together.
