Summer Reading Projects
Just a reminder...all students must complete a reading project over the summer. The assignments for each grade level are on the AG website here .
Attention parents/guardians of rising 7 th graders
North Carolina state law requires students to have 2 additional immunizations by the 1 st day of 7 th grade (August 26, 2019): Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) and Meningococcal vaccine.
Mecklenburg County Public Health Department will have Saturday hours over the summer. To schedule an appointment please call 704-336-6500.
Proof of immunizations must be turned in no later than the first day of school. Please contact the school nurse, Mrs. Ahdieh , if you have questions regarding your student’s immunization status or 980-343-5810.
Reminder to Pick Up Student Medications from Health Room
If your student currently has medication stored in the health room, it must be picked up by the last day of school, June 7th. Medications cannot be sent home with students and must be picked up by a parent or guardian. Medications cannot be stored at the school over the summer and any medications not picked up by the end of the day on June 7th will be disposed of. Forms for next year will be sent home in the next week with students who had medication at school this year.  Please contact the school nurse with any questions at 980-343-5810.

Not returning to AG in August?
If your student plans to attend a private, charter or school other than AG for the 19-20 school year, please stop by the main office to fill out & sign a withdraw form before June 7 . A parent/guardian’s signature on this form allows us to withdraw the student during July. (Forms for rising 9 th graders go to the appropriate high school.) This helps free up classroom seats for other students arriving at our school.
If you move during the summer…
Please let us know as soon as you can. CMS requires a signed address change form and two proofs of your new address. Download the form and a list of residency verification documents the district accepts from the CMS website , o r pick up the form in AG’s main office before June 7. When you have the proofs of residency, bring them to AG. When we have your current address, typically you receive the August mailing and bus transportation is correct the first week of school.
Important PowerSchool Reminder
Students seem to find a back door into PowerSchool each summer, and see course schedules under construction. If your student mentions seeing a schedule online, please tell them that what he sees today may not be there tomorrow. Schedulers work throughout the summer building schedules. A preliminary schedule will be available at Open House in August. Students get the REAL schedule from the homeroom teacher on the first day of school.
AG Needs Your Donated Books
If you have any new or gently used books appropriate for middle school readers, please consider dropping them off at the AG school office or Media Center. These books will be used to help build classroom libraries. This is a great way to clean out bookshelves and have these books serve a great purpose. All donations are appreciated.
