MPHS IB Rising 9th Grade Parent Social
Attention parents of rising Myers Park 9th graders interested in the International Baccalaureate program! You are invited to join current IB parents and members of the IB parent board for an informal gathering at the MPHS Art Gallery on Thursday, May 9 from 5-7pm. This will be a great opportunity to talk with others about their experiences with the program. We hope to see you there!
Medical Expert Q&A on The Mental Health Effects of Social Media, Smart Phones and Gaming
2 Days. 2 Events. Countless Solutions.
Families Managing Media (FMM) is partnering with AHEC to announce the first-of-its-kind continuing education accredited event in Charlotte, NC. Five medical experts from around the country will convene in Charlotte, NC in May to discuss the current medical research on screen overuse in childhood and how we can prevent screen addiction. Medical professionals, teachers and parents are invited to come learn how to prevent digital addictions and reclaim children who have become addicted to video games or social media.
Thursday, May 16: Parent Preview Night
The conference is divided into two events. It begins Thursday, May 16 with a preview night featuring brief talks from three experts, followed by a question-and-answer session. This ticketed event, “Kids & Screens: Preventing Digital Addiction,” will provide a taste of the topics that will be explored in great depth during the all-day conference on Friday. The preview night will be at Pineville United Methodist Church in Pineville, NC, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  Register here.   ( https://kidsandscreens.eventbrite.com   )
Friday, May 17: Kids & Screens: Causes and Cures for Digital Addiction
Medical professionals, doctors, nurses, counselors, teachers, youth workers, and anyone who influences children are invited to attend. Professionals will receive continuing education credit through AHEC in Charlotte for participating. This seminar is also for parents who want to get ahead of the learning curve on issues related to kids and screens. The conference will be held at the Sheraton Charlotte Hotel 555 S. MPHS Mustang Spirit Wear
Future MPHS Mustangs need spirit wear for the summer! If you have a future MPHS students, spirit wear is available from the student store which is open every Wednesday until Memorial Day. We have T shirts, sweatshirts, car magnets and more! We are located in the cafeteria and open during all lunches (10:30 – 12:30). We accept credit/debit and cash (no checks).
MPHS Movie Night in the Park
Myers Park High School Student Government is hosting a community event called Movie Night in the Park on Friday, May 17th at Myers Park High School. Our event includes a Hubee D’s food truck, a bake sale, popcorn and a free viewing of Spiderman: Into the Spider-verse . The movie is rated PG, making it a fun event for students and families of any age.
End of Year Testing Dates
 Below is our finalized end of year testing schedule. If you have any questions, please contact the School Testing Coordinator, Jenny Bonack, at [email protected] . This year we will need approximately 80 proctors each day of school wide testing.

Early Dismissal on May 24th
We know that some families may have plans to travel out of town for Memorial Day weekend. However, please note that no early dismissals will be allowed on Friday, May 24th prior to 12:30pm, as students will be testing up until that time.
