Minister Joly announces $900,000 to strengthen tourism in Niagara-on-the-Lake and maintain jobs
Niagara-on-the-Lake’s tourism industry is fundamental to the vitality of the Niagara region and a major contributor to the economy. Every year, millions of travellers visit the area to enjoy its natural beauty, world-class wineries, culture, theatre and historical charm. This influx of visitors translates to income and employment for many local residents. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a severe economic impact on businesses and organizations across Canada, particularly those that rely on travel and tourism. As the economy reopens, the Government of Canada continues to support the recovery and growth of this vital industry.
“The investments that you are doing today, helping Tourism SME and the Shaw Festival, a key asset of our tourism industry, help us to maintain our attractiveness, save jobs and reinforce the commitment to build trust.”
