News from the Logan Elm Local School District
Laurelville Elementary After School Reading Club
Several third-grade students at Laurelville Elementary participated in an After School Reading Club. The Reading Club took place after school once a week for an hour. The program lasted a total of 10 weeks. Students who demonstrated excellent attendance were invited to attend a pizza party celebration for their efforts. The Reading Club focused on reading and writing skills to better prepare the students for upcoming state tests and assessments. Several teachers also stayed after school to work with these small groups of students. The teachers would like to thank the students’ families for their willingness to allow the students to participate. It is truly remarkable to see so many people willing to help the students be successful!

The students pictured are the ones who received the pizza party celebration for their excellent attendance in the program. Congratulations, students!

Construction remains "on schedule" for opening the new building for the 2023-2024 school year.

McDowell Students "Eat" Like Birds
Mrs. Traci Wilson's 8th grade science classes completed a Bird Beak Adaptation Lab recently. The purpose was to learn about the advantages and disadvantages of phenotype variation, by simulating birds with different types of beaks competing for various foods.
