Your weekly news & updates
This Week in Worship
This Sunday we conclude our four part series on the Holy Spirit. This week our centering image for the work of the Spirit is water. Water has long been an important image for our faith beginning with the waters of our baptism. It was after His own baptism that the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove comes down and descends upon Jesus. Water is featured throughout Scripture as a right of passage from one stage of life to another. This week we will be taking a look at such a rite of passage as Elijah passes the mantle of prophet on to Elisha, part of this passing takes place through the water of the Jordan River. For reference please read 2 Kings 2:1-14. Also take some time to pay attention to the ways you see water shaping the environment around your lives. What does the role of water in our lives tell us about how God works in our lives through his Spirit?
Our next series will focus on aspects of Paul’s letters of advice and counsel to churches and individuals. The series is called “Weekend Letters” and gives us the chance to receive the same direction and encouragement that Paul offered the early church.

Pastor Steve
Pastor’s Upcoming Schedule
I will be out of town on vacation July 12th though 22nd. When Marcy and I planned this trip for our family five months ago it was with the expectation that Pastor Anita would be returning as the church’s Associate Pastor. We had no idea that DUMC would not be transitioning a new Associate Pastor during this time. Pastor Todd McCullough will begin his time at DUMC on July 7 and will be preaching on July 14 and 21. Todd was not expecting a change either and is committed to being the P astor of the Week at Camp Tekoa in Hendersonville NC July 15th - 19th. There will be a pastor on call during this time who will be announced later. Thank you for your understanding as we go through this time of transition.--

Farewell Reception Honoring David Adams
Join us for a cookie reception to say farewell to David Adams, who has been our Associate Director of Worship Arts. The reception will be held on Sunday, June 30th in the Library after both the 8:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. worship services. A basket will be available for cards and/or gifts for you to thank David for his many contributions to our worship ministry. Come and help us show our appreciation to David for his years of service to DUMC.
Church Directories
We still have several directories in the church office for families who sat for a portrait. Please stop by during office hours (Mon-Thurs, 8:30-5:00) or on Sunday mornings to pick up your copy. If you would like a directory and did not sit for a portrait, a $7 donation is very much appreciated. See Wendi Brooks ( wendi.brooks@denverumc.org ) for your copy.
Communion Servers
Help is needed at all services to serve communion each month. Teams of 2 are scheduled on a rotating basis with a yearly schedule available each January. If you would like to be a part of this serving team, please contact Wendi Brooks at wendi.brooks@denverumc.org for more information.
Thank You
Thank you to our amazing church family during David’s illness and at his celebration of life service. Thanks for all the prayers, cards, food, visits, and most of all your genuine compassion during a difficult time. What a blessing to witness God’s love in action.
