This Sunday in Worship
Christians around the world will begin Holy Week with Palm Sunday celebrations this Sunday. For me, it is an odd thing to “celebrate” Palm Sunday because we are celebrating humanities failure to recognize Jesus. Tragically the crowds go from proclaiming Jesus as “blessed” and “the one who comes in the name of the Lord” to seeing him crucified less than a week later. Jesus was right there in front of them and they failed to see him. It is a harsh reminder to us that we can be guilty of the same neglectful actions that resulted in God not being seen, even when He appeared in the flesh. As we “celebrate” Palm Sunday we will also be finishing our series on prayer called “When You Pray.” This week we will be exploring how God can answer our prayers in ways that we fail to see. Palm Sunday teaches us that we must intentionally look to see where God is present - the same applies to how we pray.

I hope to see you all Sunday,
Pastor Steve
Holy Week
Maundy Thursday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. This service is also called Holy Thursday and recounts the last night Jesus spent with his disciples before his arrest and crucifixion. Communion will be served. For those of you who are curious the word “Maundy” comes from Jesus’ proclamation of a new commandment in John 13:34 ( mandatum novum in Latin) United Methodist Book of Worship #351.

Good Friday , April 19, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. The Sanctuary will be open for prayer. Please come by as you can, enter quietly through the Narthex (front doors) and pray silently for as long you feel called to pray. (Pastor Steve will be present for any specific prayer request you may have).
