Gift Market, Carols and Cocoa Part of Small Business Saturday


Downtown Mesquite is the place to be on Saturday, Nov. 26 as the spotlight is shown on locally owned downtown businesses, artisan gifts, and entertainment for the family. Enjoy these opportunities with your family:


  • Small Business Saturday: Participating businesses open.
  • Holiday Gift Market: From 11 a.m.-4 p.m., shop with a curated collection of our Downtown Mesquite Farmers Market artisan vendors. In addition, enjoy live seasonal music and photo ops with Cowboy Santa and Mrs. Santa.
  • Carols and Cocoa: This popular free event is back starting at 4 p.m. at Corner Theatre, 214 W. Davis St. The first 100 in attendance receive a free Downtown Mesquite campfire mug. Everyone will receive free cocoa and cookies and join friends in watching a fun family friendly short film.
  • Dine Around Downtown: After Carols and Cocoa, enjoy a great meal at one of our Downtown Mesquite restaurants.

The holiday spirit will be available in abundance at Christmas on the Square in Downtown Mesquite from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Open House Set to Celebrate Completion of Heritage Plaza, Alejandro's

Completion of the Heritage Plaza and Alejandro's @ Front Street Station projects marks a major milestone in Downtown Mesquite development, and we're throwing a party to celebrate!


On Thursday, Dec. 15, the public is invited to participate in a come-and-go reception at Heritage Plaza, 111 S. Broad St.


From 4-6 p.m., visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy hors d'oeuvres from downtown restaurants, live music, and tours of the building. Also, attendees can view a video of the history of the building and the stages of rehabilitation of the property to its current state as the home of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Downtown Development offices, and the Chamber of Commerce



At 6 p.m., Alejandro's @ Front Street Station will celebrate their new location at 117 W. Main St. with some fun activities and treats.

Downtown Mesquite Chalks Up Another Statewide Award

Downtown Mesquite was awarded the Texas Downtown "Best Economic Game Changer" award at the organization's recent awards gala held in San Marcos.


The award was presented in honor of the impact of the Front Street Station infrastructure project, including approximately $1M in property sales, property improvements, and new property leases.


Downtown Mesquite has won numerous Texas Downtown awards since 2019, including Downtown Spirit, Best Traditional Event, and others.

If you've been to the Downtown Mesquite Farmers Market or just about anywhere downtown lately, you've probably noticed James Johnson hard at work in his new position as Downtown Development Coordinator.


His primary areas of focus are downtown promotion, marketing, and supporting the downtown development program overall.
