Become a Mentor!!

Are you currently a college student of color at Temple University and interested in mentoring  a high school student in North Philadelphia?   If so, complete your completed mentor application under volunteer opportunities on our website and send a  copy of your  resume  to Volunteer @doncaresphila.org and an organizational director will schedule you for an interview.  ​ ​ COMMITMENT  ​ Meet in-person with assigned mentee for 1-2 hours a week at The U School. Additional contact each month by phone or email is allowed during school breaks. • Participate in quarterly service or group mentoring activities • Communicate twice a month in first month and once a month thereafter with mentor coordinator • Participate in all ongoing training sessions • Provide all needed data for program evaluation

Neighborhood Block Clean-Up: Saturday, 10/19/19 (11:50 AM- 12:50 AM) 

Join DonCARES, Queens Org, Temple Owlettes. Queen in You, Temple HANDS, AMP, Temple Student Government, and DND for a block clean on Saturday, October 19th at 9 AM.  We are meeting at the corner of 7th and Norris Streets outside of the U School. Several groups will focus their efforts on areas surrounding the school including N. Franklin Street, Norris Street, N. 7th Street, and The U School grounds.  We are excited to team up with several Temple student organizations for our block clean up on 10/19/19. See you at the corner of 7th and Norris Streets at 9 AM sharp! Bring a friend. Bringing your gloves is highly suggested.  ​

Join us for a vision board workshop for high school aged girls!! Monday, 10/21/19 (11:50 AM- 12:50 AM)

We are excited to host a vision board workshop for high school girls on Monday, October 21, 2019, at The U School. We are excited to collaborate with the National Council of Negro Women, Temple Section and Psychology Majors of Color, Temple Section. We are also providing lunch!! Come out and fellowship.

Join us for a group mentoring session for high school aged boys at The U School Wednesday, 10/23/19 (11:50 AM- 12:50 PM) Join the men of DonCARES on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, as we host another encouraging discussion for young men about identity, conflict resolution, and vision.  For the past three years, we have held group mentoring for young men centered around personal and professional development. Our goal is to provide a safe, culturally competent, and uplifting environment for young men to discuss obstacles that we believe are hindering our growth. We aim to come up with solutions to help us move forward more confidently, emotionally intelligent, and supportive as critical members of our families and communities.
