On Friday, February 26th 2021, DonCARES welcomed Jordan Saibu and Robert Williams, current college students at Temple University and members of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Inc. to return, engage and inspire students at Simon Gratz Mastery Charter in North Philadelphia.

Currently, students in three of Forrest's Writing Seminar courses are learning about black collegiate culture through the eyes of scholars, activists, and leaders of African descent. Among the panelists were Jordan Saibu and Robert Williams, Fall 2019 initiates of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Incorporated's Lambda Chapter.

Saibu is currently a senior Advertising major at Temple University. He said that his parents' membership in Greek organizations and current members of the Lambda chapter at the time inspired him to reach out and join the fraternity. Saibu stated that he saw himself in the members of Lambda and was inspired by their leadership on campus and in the community.

Williams is currently a Senior Sports Management Major at Temple University. He stated that Kappa Alpha Psi's motto: "Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor" inspired him to pursue membership. Originally from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Williams stated that his growing up without brothers encouraged him to seek brotherhood that could be lifelong and built on solid principles.

Students in Forrest's class learned about Kappa Alpha Psi's Fraternity impact locally, nationally, and worldwide and also the Divine 9: a collaborative umbrella organization composed of historically African American collegiate Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities. Students also learned about Kappa League and other initiatives the Fraternity hosts for young men in the community. Students were excited to connect Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity to pop culture references such as the movie Stomp the Yard and more.

The purpose of this panel was to have current college students at Temple University and members of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc. share their fraternities' legacy as a member of the Divine 9, their major, the journey to Temple, and more.

The objective of the 2021 Sankofa Speaker Series is to connect 9th-grade students with scholars, professionals, and activists of African descent to increase their curiosity while inspiring them to achieve.
