In observance of President's Day on Monday, February 16, 2026, all Township Offices will be closed, including the Community Center at 1550 Oxford Valley Road. Township Offices will reopen on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 8 am.

In partnership with the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, Township Offices will be collecting donations to assemble hygiene bags for adults, children, and females. Donations will be collected through February and are planned to be delivered in early March.

Please bring all donations to the Township building at 1100 Edgewood Road, Yardley, PA, 19067 during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 8 am-4:30 pm. Below is a list of eligible items organized by group:

Adult bags: Fill a gallon-sized Ziploc bag with a full-size shampoo or body wash, bar of soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, and a razor.

Youth bags: Replace adult shampoo with full-size children’s shampoo and children’s toothpaste and toothbrushes, one bar of children’s soap (Dove or kids body wash); no razor or deodorant needed.

Feminine Hygiene Bags: In a brown paper bag place 10 tampons (multiple sizes are helpful), 10 panty liners and 10 full size pads.  

In 2025, the Department of Public Works proudly welcomed eight new Laborers and Equipment Operators to the team, filling vacancies created by several well-earned retirements. Derek Fuller, Director of Public Works, states "We are excited to have these talented individuals on board and look forward to the skills and dedication that they bring to our community."

The Lower Makefield Township Police Department (LMTPD) invites you to apply for the Citizens Police Academy, a free, interactive program that gives community members a hands-on look at modern policing in Lower Makefield.

What you’ll experience:



• Meet Your Officers: Engage with the men and women of LMTPD and learn how the department is structured and staffed.

• Behind-the-Scenes Access: Explore patrol operations, 9-1-1/dispatch coordination, criminal investigations, traffic safety, special units, and community policing initiatives.

• Hands-On Activities: Take part in traffic stop simulations, mock crime scene processing, K-9 demonstrations, use-of-force decision making discussions, and scenario-based problem solving.

• Real-World Context: Learn about legal considerations, evidence handling, and how community partnerships help prevent crime and improve quality of life.

Schedule & Location - Only 1.5 hours per week.

• Time: 6:30–8:00 PM

At their meeting on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, the Board of Supervisors adopted Ordinance #469 levying a stormwater utility fee effective January 1, 2026. This fee is authorized by the Second-Class Township Code and designed to support ongoing investment in the Township's stormwater management system/program. Revenue collected through this fee will only be used for projects and initiatives specifically relating to stormwater management.

Why Is This Fee Important and/or Needed?

Stormwater management is essential for reducing flooding, protecting water quality, and maintaining local infrastructure. The need for this dedicated fee relates to regulatory requirements imposed by federal and state law including the need to implement physical construction projects to reduce sediment pollution into our waterways. Additionally, the fee will provide for a dedicated revenue source to make needed and ongoing investments in the Township’s stormwater management system, which consists of surface structures and facilities and hundreds of miles of subsurface piping.

PECO Work to Begin in February

Residents may notice construction activity in their neighborhood beginning this February as PECO undertakes a $1 million electric infrastructure improvement project in the Township.

This investment is aimed at strengthening the local electric system to better withstand severe weather, reduce outages, and support cleaner energy.

What residents can expect:

• Work will take place along the following roads: American Dr, Oxford Valley Rd, Victory Dr, Freedom Dr, Liberty Dr, Queens Dr, Darby Dr, Independence Dr, Glen Oak Dr, Roelofs Rd, Ramsey Rd, Garey Dr, Weber Dr, Piper Ln, and Kings Rd.
• Construction is scheduled to begin February 9, 2026, with an estimated completion date of July 1, 2026.
• Crews will install new underground electrical cable and conduit using specialized equipment.
• Any affected portions of yards or roadways will be restored once work is complete.
• All work will be completed by PECO crews and qualified contractors.

While every effort will be made to minimize disruption, temporary power interruptions may be necessary to safely complete certain portions of the project. Residents will be notified in advance whenever possible.

Bird of the Month

Bird of the Month: Tufted Titmouse

Meet one of Lower Makefield's lively year-round residents, the Tufted Titmouse! With its perky crest and bold personality, this small songbird is a favorite among bird lovers.

The Tufted Titmouse is closely related to the Black-crested Titmouse of Texas and Mexico. Although the two species can hybridize where their ranges meet, they remain distinct due to differences in their calls and genetics. Unlike many chickadees, Tufted Titmice don’t form large winter flocks. Most pairs stay together on their territory all year. Sometimes a young bird from the previous brood sticks around to help—and in rare cases, even assists with raising the next generation.

Smart food savers!

In fall and winter, titmice cache food for later. They often grab just one seed at a time from feeders, shell it, and hide it nearby to survive colder months.

Home sweet home

Tufted Titmice nest in tree cavities, usually old woodpecker holes, since they can’t make their own. Dead trees are important habitat! Nests are lined with soft materials, including hair from mammals like squirrels, pets, livestock, and even humans. With lifespans reaching over 13 years in the wild, Tufted Titmice are a long-term part of our community. Keep an eye (and ear!) out for this spirited little bird right here in LMT.
