• Appeals/credits do not eliminate the fee

• Please pay your bill (quarterly or annually) while requests are pending

• Overpayments will be credited to your account

• Approved requests are retroactive to Jan. 1, 2026

You can now pay your Stormwater Utility Bill on the Township website. A link to the online payment portal is directly linked at the top right-hand side of the home page seen circled in red in the image below. You also have the ability to access several educational materials on stormwater management and the importance of continuing investment in stormwater infrastructure. These materials, along with a credit and appeal application form, are linked under the Stormwater tabs at the top and bottom of our home page.

As a reminder, bills are due May 13th, 2026, for quarterly or full payment. Ratepayers can receive a 3% discount by making payment in full by the May 13, 2026, deadline.

While traveling around the Township this Spring you might have noticed the many recently planted trees. These trees are the result of a unique program in Lower Makefield Township conceived by LMT’s Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) and promulgated as an ordinance by the Supervisors in 2014. It is known as the Tree Bank.

Funds going to the Tree Bank are not paid by LMT taxpayers!

For every tree cut down greater than 10 inches in trunk diameter by a developer, the developer is required to plant at least 4 replacement trees or deposit $450 per replacement tree into the Tree Bank for the Township to plant at a later date.

Almost $800,000 has been deposited into the LMT Tree Bank thus far. The money has been used to plant over 1,700 trees in the Township since 2016. Tree planting locations include Memorial Park, Macclesfield Park, Veterans Park, Caiola Baseball Park, LMT Dog Park, Fred Allen Softball Park, Stoddart Fields, the Township Building/Pool Complex, the Community Center, Macclesfield Golf Course, Patterson Farm, three open spaces, and 26 stormwater detention basins.

Most planted trees are 7-10 ft tall with a trunk diameter of 2.5 inches. To ensure environmental diversity, over 30 different native tree species have been planted.

 The current Tree Bank balance is $234,000. This spring 165 trees will be planted in our parks and detention basins. An additional 1,000 trees will be planted in the next few years, so expect to see even more new trees around the Township in the future!

The next LMT Dog Park orientation for new members will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 7 pm at the Community Center - 1550 Oxford Valley Road. This orientation is mandatory for all new members.

Congratulations to Lieutenant Lawrence Hilghman on his graduation from the prestigious Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command.

This intensive 10-week program, which began in December 2025, is designed to strengthen leadership, management, and decision-making skills for law enforcement professionals. Participants engage in advanced coursework covering topics such as organizational behavior, strategic planning, budgeting, personnel management, and community relations—preparing them to meet the evolving challenges of modern policing.

Lt. Hilghman’s dedication to professional growth and commitment to excellence is truly commendable, and this achievement reflects both his hard work and his leadership within the department.
