BASH 515
HISD CTE PROGRAM

Thanks to HISD Career & Technical Education (CTE) for hosting the March BASH515 and a big thanks to Cowboy Contractors for sponsoring. Mary Poret, director of the program shared, “The strength of the American economy is linked to the strength of America’s education system. Particularly in times of economic challenge, American employers need a workforce that is skilled, adaptable, creative, and equipped for success in the global marketplace. And our students need a more rigorous, better tailored education to acquire the skills they need to compete, to follow a clear pathway into the middle class, and continue to prosper.”  READ MORE!

CASA of Walker, San Jacinto & Trinity County

Executive Director Kimberly Weiser shared, “The mission of CASA is to provide a trained court-appointed volunteer advocate to all of the abused and neglected children in the custody of Child Protective Services (CPS) from Walker, San Jacinto, and Trinity Counties. CASA’s role is to recruit, train, and support local volunteers who advocate on behalf of children and their families. Advocacy includes regular in-person visits with the children, providing testimony on behalf of the child in court, helping children to maintain and develop connections with loving and supportive adults, and much more! CASA Advocates are the “cream of the crop” in volunteerism, giving an average of 15 to 18 months of service to each child with whom they work.” CONTINUE ARTICLE
