I know, I know, I don't like changes either! However, we have made a few changes to our online presence that we believe will make for a big improvement.

Our new website - www.wetzeltylerchamber.org - is coming along great!  In addition to meeting our Board of Directors and using our member area to search for local partners to satisfy your needs, we also have an events page to keep you informed on upcoming local events. Best of all, if you are a member, we can list your event for FREE!  Simply click the events link below.

Another change is the publication day for the newsletter.  Beginning August 13th, we will be publishing on Friday. Our goal is to have the newsletter in your inbox when you check your phone or computer Friday morning. A lot of our events happen on the weekend, so we are going to try our best to get information to you in a timely manner. Next Monday, August 9th, we will send out a reminder.

Now, that wasn't so bad, right?  We would love your feedback regarding the changes to the newsletter and the new website. Let us know what you think. Please don’t hesitate to send comments on what you would like to see as well.  Send your comments and suggestions to Brian@WetzelTylerChamber.org and/or director@WetzelTylerChamber.org. We look forward to hearing from you!
Next week is Town & Country Days. It's the best 6 days of summer! Activities include motorsports, various musical talent, local crafters, vendors, carnival rides, and locally raised livestock; not to mention the food we all know we shouldn't eat, but we can't resist.

Located one mile outside of New Martinsville at the Wetzel County 4-H Grounds, Town & Country Days has something for everyone. Click on the schedule below to go to the fair's website or find them on Facebook at:

Ken McBride to Perform on ArtsLink Day
The City of New Martinsville has proclaimed Thursday, August 5th as “ArtsLink Day” in honor of the art center’s 20th Anniversary.

ArtsLink was incorporated on July 25, 2001, as the arts council for Wetzel and Tyler counties. ArtsLink occupies the Francis Creative Arts Center, a building provided by West Virginia Northern Community College. The building was donated by the Francis family for use as an arts center dedicated to local artists, art students and various performers.

As part of the anniversary celebration, ArtsLink will feature, at the Lincoln Theater, located at 242 Main Street in New Martinsville, a performance by Ken McBride. Ken is a pianist, singer, and entertainer extraordinaire. Ken’s performance is also on Thursday, August 5th. The concert will begin at 7:00 pm and is part of ArtsLink’s 2021 Coffeehouse Series. Admission is free to the public and has been underwritten by Johnny Joe Mensore in celebration of his 83rd birthday. Johnny could not be more pleased to sponsor his old friend’s return engagement for his birthday. ArtsLink president, Scarlet Hood remarked, “These two have performed together previously and put on a wonderful show.”

Ken’s extensive repertoire includes some classical selections, contemporary sounds of Sinatra, Humperdinck, Joel, along with Broadway show tunes and favorite Irish melodies. His acclaimed rendition of “The Phantom of the Opera”, is truly a musical spectacular to be seen and heard. Ken is well known for performing in Venice, Florida at TJ Carney’s.

Ken is a native of Waterford, Ireland, hence his familiarity with all the Irish songs his fans adore. For many years he has been performing in American venues, from large concert halls, to small intimate pubs and restaurants.

Ryan Richea provided the inaugural concert for ArtsLink’s new performance deck on Saturday, July 24 with a free outdoor concert, launching this year’s Coffeehouse Series. The Chamber stopped by with ribbon to help christen the new Deck.

The Deck was built by Dan Henthorn, the Hood Family, and Jane Knight. It will serve as a stage for outdoor concerts in the future.

State of the Counties
Over the coming weeks, we will feature local government and business leaders from Wetzel and Tyler Counties. They will present the current state of the counties and their perspectives on what the future holds for our area. We will profile each speaker and provide a YouTube link to their live presentations. The Chamber is looking forward to keeping everyone informed on the most critical issues that face our communities.
