November Spotlight: Carlos Guardado
Below you'll hear from Carlos Guardado, a free program student, who is learning to play the piano. To learn more about free and affordable programs, please visit our website.
Tell us a about yourself and about your experience during 2020.

My name is Carlos. I’m in 10th grade and am currently playing the piano. Throughout this year, there have been many ups and downs. Taking music lessons has helped me a lot to process and express myself, letting out anything that bothered me through playing the piano. It has also helped relieve stress and anxiety from hard times all while helping gain hope and faith.

What is your favorite part of taking music lessons and do you have any advice for fellow music students?

I’d say my favorite part of taking music lessons is learning new songs and the experience of dedicating time to learn and memorize each note. My advice to any new students, I’d tell them that commitment to the journey is key to learning. The focus and hard work that is put in now, will have been worth it in the future.
What are you looking forward to in the new year?

I’m very excited about learning the saxophone in 2021, it’s always been an instrument that has grabbed my attention and interest because of the beautiful sounds that could be made with it. I’m also looking forward to facing new challenges with intentions of overcoming and learning, whether it’s in music or just in life.
What's new for 2021?
In partnership with the Tarzana Community & Cultural Center, we will be launching lessons on Tuesdays and Wednesday. This program will offer both free and affordable lessons.

Please stay tuned for launch date and for instruments available.
